"ما القارعة"، تهويل وتعظيم.

Yusuf AliAnd what will explain to thee what the (Day) of Noise and Clamour is
"وما أدراك ما القارعة".
Saheeh InternationalIt is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed
Yusuf Ali(It is) a Day whereon men will be like moths scattered about
"يوم يكون الناس كالفراش المبثوث"هذا الفراش : الطير [ الصغار البق ، واحدها فراشة ، أي : كالطير ] التي تراها تتهافت في النار ، والمبثوث : المتفرق . وقال الفراء : كغوغاء الجراد ، شبه الناس عند البعث بها [ لأن الخلق ] يموج بعضهم في بعض ويركب بعضهم بعضا من الهول كما قال : " كأنهم جراد منتشر " ( القمر - 7 ) .
Saheeh InternationalAnd the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up
Yusuf AliAnd the mountains will be like carded wool
"وتكون الجبال كالعهن المنفوش"، كالصوف المندوف.
Saheeh InternationalThen as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds]
Yusuf AliThen, he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) heavy
"فأما من ثقلت موازينه"، رجحت حسناته على سيئاته.
Saheeh InternationalHe will be in a pleasant life
Yusuf AliWill be in a life of good pleasure and satisfaction
"فهو في عيشة راضية"، مرضية في الجنة. قال الزجاج ذات رضا يرضاها صاحبها.
Saheeh InternationalBut as for one whose scales are light
Yusuf AliBut he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) light
"وأما من خفت موازينه"، رجحت سيئاته على حسناته.
Saheeh InternationalHis refuge will be an abyss
Yusuf AliWill have his home in a (bottomless) Pit
( فأمه هاوية ) مسكنه النار ، سمي المسكن أما لأن الأصل في السكون إلى الأمهات ، والهاوية اسم من أسماء جهنم ، وهو المهواة لا يدرك قعرها ، وقال قتادة : وهي كلمة عربية تقولها العرب للرجل إذا وقع في أمر شديد ، يقال : هوت أمه . وقيل : [ " فأمه هاوية "أراد أم رأسه [ " منحدرة منكوسة " يعني أنهم يهوون في النار على رءوسهم ، وإلى هذا التأويل ذهب قتادة وأبو صالح .

( وما أدراك ما هيه ) يعني الهاوية ، وأصلها : ما هي ، أدخل الهاء فيها للوقف والاستراحة
Saheeh InternationalIt is a Fire, intensely hot
Yusuf Ali(It is) a Fire Blazing fiercely
ثم فسرها فقال : ( نار حامية ) أي حارة قد انتهى حرها .
