52. At-Tur سُورَةُ الطُّورِ
Yusuf AliBy the Mount (of Revelation)
Saheeh InternationalBy the mount
«والطور» أي الجبل الذي كلم الله عليه موسى.
Yusuf AliBy a Decree inscribed
Saheeh InternationalAnd [by] a Book inscribed
«وكتاب مسطور».
Yusuf AliIn a Scroll unfolded
Saheeh InternationalIn parchment spread open
«في رقٍّ منشور» أي التوراة أو القرآن.
Yusuf AliBy the much-frequented Fane
Saheeh InternationalAnd [by] the frequented House
«والبيت المعمور» هو في السماء الثالثة أو السادسة أو السابعة بحيال الكعبة يزوره كل يوم سبعون ألف ملك بالطواف والصلاة لا يعودون إليه أبدا.
Yusuf AliBy the Canopy Raised High
Saheeh InternationalAnd [by] the heaven raised high
«والسقف المرفوع» أي السماء.
Yusuf AliAnd by the Ocean filled with Swell
Saheeh InternationalAnd [by] the sea filled [with fire]
«والبحر المسجور» أي المملوء.
Yusuf AliVerily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur
«إن عذاب ربك لواقع» لنازل بمستحقه.
Yusuf AliThere is none can avert it
Saheeh InternationalOf it there is no preventer
«ماله من دافع» عنه.
Yusuf AliOn the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion
Saheeh InternationalOn the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion
«يوم» مفعول لواقع «تمور السماء مورا» تتحرك وتدور.
Yusuf AliAnd the mountains will fly hither and thither
Saheeh InternationalAnd the mountains will pass on, departing
«وتسير الجبال سيرا» تصير هباء منثورا وذلك في يوم القيامة.
Yusuf AliThen woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood
Saheeh InternationalThen woe, that Day, to the deniers
«فويل» شدة عذاب «يومئذ للمكذبين» للرسل.
Yusuf AliThat play (and paddle) in shallow trifles
Saheeh InternationalWho are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves
«الذين هم في خوض» باطل «يلعبون» أي يتشاغلون بكفرهم.
Yusuf AliThat Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly
Saheeh InternationalThe Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say]
«يوم يُدعُّون إلى نار جهنم دعّا» يدفعون بعنف بدل من يوم تمور، ويقال لهم تبكيتا.
Yusuf AliThis:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny
Saheeh InternationalThis is the Fire which you used to deny
«هذه النار التي كنتم بها تكذبون».
Yusuf AliIs this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see
Saheeh InternationalThen is this magic, or do you not see
«أفسحر هذا» العذاب الذي ترون كما كنتم تقولون في الوحي هذا سحر «أم أنتم لا تبصرون».
Yusuf AliBurn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds
Saheeh International[Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do
«اصلوْها فاصبروا» عليها «أو لا تصبروا» صبركم وجزعكم «سواء عليكم» لأن صبركم لا ينفعكم «إنما تجزون ما كنتم تعملون» أي جزاءه.
Yusuf AliAs to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure
«إن المتقين في جنات ونعيم».
Yusuf AliEnjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire
Saheeh InternationalEnjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire
«فاكهين» متلذذين «بما» مصدرية «آتاهم» أعطاهم «ربهم ووقاهم ربهم عذاب الجحيم» عطفا على آتاهم، أي بإتيانهم ووقايتهم ويقال لهم.
Yusuf Ali(To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds
Saheeh International[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do
«كلوا واشربوا هنيئا» حال أي: مهنئين «بما» الباء سببية «كنتم تعملون».
Yusuf AliThey will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes
Saheeh InternationalThey will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes
(متكئين) حال من الضمير المستكن في قوله "" في جنات "" (على سرر مصفوفة) بعضها إلى جنب بعض (وزوجناهم) عطف على جنات، أي قرناهم (بحور عين) عظام الأعين حسانها.
Yusuf AliAnd those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds
Saheeh InternationalAnd those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained
«والذين آمنوا» مبتدأ «أتبعناهم» وفي قراءة واتبعتهم معطوف على آمنوا «ذرياتهم» وفي قراءة ذريتهم الصغار والكبار «بإيمان» من الكبار ومن أولادهم الصغار والخبر «ألحقنا بهم ذرياتهم» المذكورين في الجنة فيكونون في درجتهم وإن لم يعملوا تكرمة للآباء باجتماع الأولاد إليهم «وما ألتناهم» بفتح اللام وكسرها نقصناهم «من عملهم من» زائدة «شيء» يزاد في عمل الأولاد «كل امرئ بما كسب» من عمل خير أو شر «رهين» مرهون يؤاخذ بالشر ويجازى بالخير.
Yusuf AliAnd We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire
Saheeh InternationalAnd We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire
«وأمددناهم» زدناهم في وقت بعد وقت «بفاكهة ولحم ما يشتهون» وإن لم يصرحوا بطلبه.
Yusuf AliThey shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill
Saheeh InternationalThey will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin
«يتنازعون» يتعاطون بينهم «فيها» أي الجنة «كأسا» خمرا «لا لغوٌ فيها» أي بسبب شربها يقع بينهم «ولا تأثيم» به يلحقهم بخلاف خمر الدنيا.
Yusuf AliRound about them will serve, (devoted) to them. Youths (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded
Saheeh InternationalThere will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected
«ويطوف عليهم» للخدمة «غلمان» أرقاء «لهم كأنهم» حسنا ولطافة «لؤلؤ مكنون» مصون في الصدف لأنه فيها أحسن منه في غيرها.
Yusuf AliThey will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry
Saheeh InternationalAnd they will approach one another, inquiring of each other
«وأقبل بعضهم على بعض يتساءلون» يسأل بعضهم بعضا عما كانوا عليه وما وصلوا إليه تلذذا واعترافا بالنعمة.
Yusuf AliThey will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people
Saheeh InternationalThey will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]
«قالوا» إيماء إلى علة الوصول «إنا كنا قبل في أهلنا» في الدنيا «مشفقين» خائفين من عذاب الله.
Yusuf AliBut God has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind
Saheeh InternationalSo Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire
«فمنّ الله علينا» بالمغفرة «ووقانا عذاب السموم» النار لدخولها في المسام وقالوا إيماء أيضا.
Yusuf AliTruly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful
«إنا كنا من قبل» أي في الدنيا «ندعوه» نعبده موحدين «إنه» بالكسر استئنافا وإن كان تعليلا معنى وبالفتح تعليلا لفظا «هو البر» المحسن الصادق في وعده «الرحيم» العظيم الرحمة.
Yusuf AliTherefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed
Saheeh InternationalSo remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman
«فذكِّر» دم على تذكير المشركين ولا ترجع عنه لقولهم لك كاهن مجنون «فما أنت بنعمة ربك» بإنعامه عليك «بكاهن» خبر ما «ولا مجنون» معطوف عليه.
Yusuf AliOr do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time
Saheeh InternationalOr do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time
«أم» بل «يقولون» هو «شاعر نتربص به ريْب المنون» حوادث الدهر فيهلك كغيره من الشعراء.
Yusuf AliSay thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you
Saheeh InternationalSay, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters
«قل تربصوا» هلاكي «فإني معكم من المتربصين» هلاككم فعذبوا بالسيف يوم بدر، والتربص الانتظار.
Yusuf AliIs it that their faculties of understanding urge them to this, or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds
Saheeh InternationalOr do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people
«أم تأمرهم أحلامهم» عقولهم «بهذا» قولهم له: ساحر كاهن مجنون، أي لا تأمرهم بذلك «أم» بل «هم قوم طاغون» بعنادهم.
Yusuf AliOr do they say, "He fabricated the (Message)"? Nay, they have no faith
Saheeh InternationalOr do they say, "He has made it up"? Rather, they do not believe
«أم يقولون تقوَّلهُ» اختلق القرآن، لم يختلقه «بل لا يؤمنون» استكبارا، فإن قالوا اختلقه.
Yusuf AliLet them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth
Saheeh InternationalThen let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful
«فليأتوا بحديث» مختلق «مثله إن كانوا صادقين» في قولهم.
Yusuf AliWere they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators
Saheeh InternationalOr were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]
«أم خُلقوا من غير شيء» من غير خالق «أم هم الخالقون» أنفسهم ولا يعقل مخلوق بغير خالق ولا معدوم يخلق فلابد من خالق هو الله الواحد فلم لا يوحدونه ويؤمنون برسوله وكتابه.
Yusuf AliOr did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief
Saheeh InternationalOr did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain
«أم خلقوا السماوات والأرض» ولا يقدر على خلقهما إلا الله الخالق فلم لا يعبدونه «بل لا يوقنون» به وإلا لآمنوا بنبيه.
Yusuf AliOr are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)
Saheeh InternationalOr have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]
«أم عندهم خزائن ربك» من النبوة والرزق وغيرهما فيخصوا من شاءُوا بما شاءُوا «أم هم المسيطرون» المتسلطون الجبارون وفعله سيطر ومثله بيطر وبيقر.
Yusuf AliOr have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof
Saheeh InternationalOr have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority
«أم لهم سلم» مرقى إلى السماء «يستمعون فيه» أي عليه كلام الملائكة حتى يمكنهم منازعة النبي بزعمهم إن ادعوا ذلك «فليأت مبين» بحجة مستمعهم مدعي الاستماع عليه «بسلطان مبين» بينة واضحة ولشبه هذا الزعم بزعمهم أن الملائكة بنات الله قال تعالى.
Yusuf AliOr has He only daughters and ye have sons
Saheeh InternationalOr has He daughters while you have sons
«أم له البنات» بزعمكم «ولكم البنون» تعالى الله عما زعمتموه.
Yusuf AliOr is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt
Saheeh InternationalOr do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down
«أم تسألهم أجرا» على ما جئتهم به من الدين «فهم من مغرم» غرم ذلك «مثقلون» فلا يسلمون.
Yusuf AliOr that the Unseen in it their hands, and they write it down
Saheeh InternationalOr have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down
«أم عندهم الغيب» أي علمه «فهم يكتبون» ذلك حتى يمكنهم منازعة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في البعث وأمور الآخرة بزعمهم.
Yusuf AliOr do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy God are themselves involved in a Plot
Saheeh InternationalOr do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan
«أم يريدون كيدا» بك ليهلكوك في دار الندوة «فالذين كفروا هم المكيدون» المغلوبون المهلكون فحفظه الله منهم ثم أهلكهم ببدر.
Yusuf AliOr have they a god other than God? Exalted is God far above the things they associate with Him
Saheeh InternationalOr have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him
«أم لهم إله غير الله سبحان الله عما يشركون» به من الآلهة والاستفهام بأم في مواضعها للتقبيح والتوبيخ.
Yusuf AliWere they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps
Saheeh InternationalAnd if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up
(وإن يروا كسفا) بعضا (من السماء ساقطا) عليهم كما قالوا: "" فأسقط علينا كسفا من السماء "" أي تعذيبا لهم (يقولوا) هذا (سحاب مركوم) متراكب نروى به ولا يؤمنون.
Yusuf AliSo leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror)
Saheeh InternationalSo leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible
«فذرهم حتى يلاقوا يومهم الذي فيه يصعقون» يموتون.
Yusuf AliThe Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them
Saheeh InternationalThe Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped
«يوم لا يغني» بدل من يومهم «عنهم كيدهم شيئا ولا هم يُنصرون» يمنعون من العذاب في الآخرة.
Yusuf AliAnd verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, for those who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know
«وإنَّ للذين ظلموا» بكفرهم «عذابا دون ذلك» في الدنيا قبل موتهم فعذبوا بالجوع والقحط سبع سنين وبالقتل يوم بدر «ولكن أكثرهم لا يعلمون» أن العذاب ينزل بهم.
Yusuf AliNow await in patience the command of thy Lord: for verily thou art in Our eyes: and celebrate the praises of thy Lord the while thou standest forth
Saheeh InternationalAnd be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise
«واصبر لحكم ربك» بإمهالهم ولا يضق صدرك «فإنك بأعيننا» بمرأى منا نراك ونحفظك «وسبح» متلبسا «بحمد ربك» أي قل: سبحان الله وبحمده «حين تقوم» من منامك أو من مجلسك.
Yusuf AliAnd for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars
Saheeh InternationalAnd in a part of the night exalt Him and after [the setting of] the stars
«ومن الليل فسبحه» حقيقة أيضا «وإدبار النجوم» مصدر، أي عقب غروبها سبحه أيضا، أو صلّ في الأول العشاءين، وفي الثاني الفجر وقيل الصبح.
