78. An-Naba سُورَةُ النَّبَإِ
Yusuf AliConcerning what are they disputing
Saheeh InternationalAbout what are they asking one another
«عمَّ» عن أي شيء «يتساءلون» يسال بعض قريش بعضا.
Yusuf AliConcerning the Great News
Saheeh InternationalAbout the great news
«عن النبأ العظيم» بيان لذلك الشيء والاستفهام لتفخيمه وهو ما جاء به النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم من القرآن المشتمل على البعث وغيره.
Yusuf AliAbout which they cannot agree
Saheeh InternationalThat over which they are in disagreement
«الذي هم فيه مختلفون» فالمؤمنون يثبتونه والكافرون ينكرونه.
Yusuf AliVerily, they shall soon (come to) know
Saheeh InternationalNo! They are going to know
«كلا» ردع «سيعلمون» ما يحل بهم على إنكارهم له.
Yusuf AliVerily, verily they shall soon (come to) know
Saheeh InternationalThen, no! They are going to know
«ثم كلا سيعلمون» تأكيد وجيء فيه بثم للإيذان بأن الوعيد الثاني أشد من الأول، ثم أومأ تعالى إلى القدرة على البعث فقال:
Yusuf AliHave We not made the earth as a wide expanse
Saheeh InternationalHave We not made the earth a resting place
«ألم نجعل الأرض مهادا» فراشا كالمهد.
Yusuf AliAnd the mountains as pegs
Saheeh InternationalAnd the mountains as stakes
«والجبال أوتادا» تثبت بها الأرض كما تثبت الخيام بالأوتاد، والاستفهام للتقرير.
Yusuf AliAnd (have We not) created you in pairs
Saheeh InternationalAnd We created you in pairs
«وخلقناكم أزواجا» ذكورا وإناثا.
Yusuf AliAnd made your sleep for rest
Saheeh InternationalAnd made your sleep [a means for] rest
«وجعلنا نومكم سباتا» راحة لأبدانكم.
Yusuf AliAnd made the night as a covering
Saheeh InternationalAnd made the night as clothing
«وجعلنا الليل لباسا» ساترا بسواده.
Yusuf AliAnd made the day as a means of subsistence
Saheeh InternationalAnd made the day for livelihood
«وجعلنا النهار معاشا» وقتا للمعايش.
Yusuf AliAnd (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments
Saheeh InternationalAnd constructed above you seven strong [heavens]
«وبنينا فوقكم سبعا» سبع سماوات «شدادا» جمع شديدة، أي قوية محكمة لا يؤثر فيها مرور الزمان.
Yusuf AliAnd placed (therein) a Light of Splendour
Saheeh InternationalAnd made [therein] a burning lamp
«وجعلنا سراجا» منيرا «وهاجا» وقادا: يعني الشمس.
Yusuf AliAnd do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance
Saheeh InternationalAnd sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water
«وأنزلنا من المعصرات» السحابات التي حان لها أن تمطر، كالمعصر الجارية التي دنت من الحيض «ماءً ثجاجا» صبابا.
Yusuf AliThat We may produce therewith corn and vegetables
Saheeh InternationalThat We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation
«لنخرج به حبا» كالحنطة «ونباتا» كالتين.
Yusuf AliAnd gardens of luxurious growth
Saheeh InternationalAnd gardens of entwined growth
«وجنات» بساتين «ألفافا» ملتفة، جمع لفيف كشريف وأشراف.
Yusuf AliVerily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time
«إن يوم الفصل» بين الخلائق «كان ميقاتا» وقتا للثواب والعقاب.
Yusuf AliThe Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds
Saheeh InternationalThe Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes
«يوم ينفخ في الصور» القرن بدل من يوم الفصل أو بيان له والنافخ إسرافيل «فتأتون» من قبوركم إلى الموقف «أفواجا» جماعات مختلفة.
Yusuf AliAnd the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors
Saheeh InternationalAnd the heaven is opened and will become gateways
«وفُتِّحت السماء» بالتشديد والتخفيف شققت لنزول الملائكة «فكانت أبوابا» ذات أبواب.
Yusuf AliAnd the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage
Saheeh InternationalAnd the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage
«وسيِّرت الجبال» ذهب بها عن أماكنها «فكانت سرابا» هباء، أي مثله في خفة سيرها.
Yusuf AliTruly Hell is as a place of ambush
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, Hell has been lying in wait
«إن جهنم كانت مرصادا» راصدة أو مرصدة.
Yusuf AliFor the transgressors a place of destination
Saheeh InternationalFor the transgressors, a place of return
«للطاغين» الكافرين فلا يتجاوزونها «مآبا» مرجعا لهم فيدخلونها.
Yusuf AliThey will dwell therein for ages
Saheeh InternationalIn which they will remain for ages [unending]
«لابثين» حال مقدرة، أي مقدَّرا لبثهم «فيها أحقابا» دهورا لا نهاية لها جمع حقب بضم أوله.
Yusuf AliNothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink
Saheeh InternationalThey will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink
«لا يذوقون فيها بردا» نوما فإنهم لا يذوقونه «ولا شرابا» ما يشرب تلذذا.
Yusuf AliSave a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold
Saheeh InternationalExcept scalding water and [foul] purulence
«إلا» لكن «حميما» ماءً حارا غاية الحرارة «وغسَّاقا» بالتخفيف والتشديد ما يسيل من صديد أهل النار فإنهم يذوقونه جوزوا بذلك.
Yusuf AliA fitting recompense (for them)
Saheeh InternationalAn appropriate recompense
«جزاءً وفاقا» موافقا لعملهم فلا ذنب أعظم من الكفر ولا عذاب أعظم من النار.
Yusuf AliFor that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds)
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, they were not expecting an account
«إنهم كانوا لا يرجون» يخافون «حسابا» لإنكارهم البعث.
Yusuf AliBut they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false
Saheeh InternationalAnd denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial
«وكذبوا بآياتنا» القرآن «كِذَّابا» تكذيبا.
Yusuf AliAnd all things have We preserved on record
Saheeh InternationalBut all things We have enumerated in writing
«وكل شيءٍ» من الأعمال «أحصيناه» ضبطناه «كتابا» كتبا في اللوح المحفوظ لنجازي عليه ومن ذلك تكذيبهم بالقرآن.
Yusuf AliSo taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment
Saheeh InternationalSo taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment
«فذوقوا» أي فيقال لهم في الآخرة عند وقوع العذاب ذوقوا جزاءكم «فلن نزيدكم إلا عذابا» فوق عذابكم.
Yusuf AliVerily for the Righteous there will be a fulfilment of (the heart's) desires
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, for the righteous is attainment
«إن للمتقين مفازا» مكان فوز في الجنة.
Yusuf AliGardens enclosed, and grapevines
Saheeh InternationalGardens and grapevines
«حدائق» بساتين بدل من مفازا أو بيان له «وأعنابا» عطف على مفازا.
Yusuf AliCompanions of equal age
Saheeh InternationalAnd full-breasted [companions] of equal age
«وكواعب» جواري تكعبت ثديهن جمع كاعب «أترابا» على سن واحد، جمع تِرب بكسر التاء وسكون الراء.
Yusuf AliAnd a cup full (to the brim)
Saheeh InternationalAnd a full cup
(وكأسا دهاقا) خمرا مالئة محالها، وفي سورة القتال: "" وأنهار من خمر "".
Yusuf AliNo vanity shall they hear therein, nor Untruth
Saheeh InternationalNo ill speech will they hear therein or any falsehood
«لا يسمعون فيها» أي الجنة عند شرب الخمر وغيرها من الأحوال «لغوا» باطلا من القول «ولا كذَابا» بالتخفيف، أي: كذبا، وبالتشديد أي تكذيبا من واحد لغيره بخلاف ما يقع في الدنيا عند شرب الخمر.
Yusuf AliRecompense from thy Lord, a gift, (amply) sufficient
Saheeh International[As] reward from your Lord, [a generous] gift [made due by] account
«جزاءً من ربك» أي جزاهم الله بذلك جزاء «عطاءً» بدل من جزاء «حسابا» أي كثيرا، من قولهم: أعطاني فأحسبني، أي أكثر علي حتى قلت حسبي.
Yusuf Ali(From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all between, (God) Most Gracious: None shall have power to argue with Him
Saheeh International[From] the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Most Merciful. They possess not from Him [authority for] speech
«ربِّ السماوات والأرض» بالجر والرفع «وما بينهما الرحمنِ» كذلك وبرفعه مع جر رب «لا يملكون» أي الخلق «منه» تعالى «خطابا» أي لا يقدر أحد أن يخاطبه خوفا منه.
Yusuf AliThe Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand forth in ranks, none shall speak except any who is permitted by (God) Most Gracious, and He will say what is right
Saheeh InternationalThe Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct
«يوم» ظرف لـ لا يملكون «يقوم الروح» جبريل أو جند الله «والملائكة صفا» حال، أي مصطفين «لا يتكلمون» أي الخلق «إلا من أذن له الرحمن» في الكلام «وقال» قولا «صوابا» من المؤمنين والملائكة كأن يشفعوا لمن ارتضى.
Yusuf AliThat Day will be the sure Reality: Therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) return to his Lord
Saheeh InternationalThat is the True Day; so he who wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return
«ذلك اليوم الحق» الثابت وقوعه وهو يوم القيامة «فمن شاء اتخذ إلى ربه مآبا» مرجعا، أي رجع إلى الله بطاعته ليسلم من العذاب فيه.
Yusuf AliVerily, We have warned you of a Penalty near, the Day when man will see (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the Unbeliever will say, "Woe unto me! Would that I were (metre) dust
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust
«إنا أنذرناكم» يا كفار مكة «عذابا قريبا» عذاب يوم القيامة الآتي، وكل آت قريب «يوم» ظرف لعذابا بصفته «ينظر المرء» كل امرئ «ما قدمت يداه» من خير وشر «ويقول الكافر يا» حرف تنبيه «ليتني كنت ترابا» يعني فلا أعذب يقول ذلك عندما يقول الله تعالى للبهائم بعد الاقتصاص من بعضها لبعض: كوني ترابا.
