23:1
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ

Yusuf AliThe believers must (eventually) win through

Saheeh InternationalCertainly will the believers have succeeded

23:2 📚 1
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى صَلَاتِهِمْ خَـٰشِعُونَ

Yusuf AliThose who humble themselves in their prayers

Saheeh InternationalThey who are during their prayer humbly submissive

23:3 📚 6
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنِ ٱللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ

Yusuf AliWho avoid vain talk

Saheeh InternationalAnd they who turn away from ill speech

23:4
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِلزَّكَوٲةِ فَـٰعِلُونَ

Yusuf AliWho are active in deeds of charity

Saheeh InternationalAnd they who are observant of zakah

23:5
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَـٰفِظُونَ

Yusuf AliWho abstain from sex

Saheeh InternationalAnd they who guard their private parts

23:6
إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٲجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ

Yusuf AliExcept with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame

Saheeh InternationalExcept from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed

23:7
فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٲلِكَ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ

Yusuf AliBut those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors

Saheeh InternationalBut whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors

23:8
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٲعُونَ

Yusuf AliThose who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants

Saheeh InternationalAnd they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive

23:9 📚 4
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَوَٲتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ

Yusuf AliAnd who (strictly) guard their prayers

Saheeh InternationalAnd they who carefully maintain their prayers

23:10
أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْوَٲرِثُونَ

Yusuf AliThese will be the heirs

Saheeh InternationalThose are the inheritors

23:11
ٱلَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ ٱلْفِرْدَوْسَ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ

Yusuf AliWho will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (for ever)

Saheeh InternationalWho will inherit al-Firdaus. They will abide therein eternally

23:12
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن سُلَـٰلَةٍ مِّن طِينٍ

Yusuf AliMan We did create from a quintessence (of clay)

Saheeh InternationalAnd certainly did We create man from an extract of clay

23:13
ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ نُطْفَةً فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ

Yusuf AliThen We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed

Saheeh InternationalThen We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging

23:14 📚 3
ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا ٱلنُّطْفَةَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقْنَا ٱلْعَلَقَةَ مُضْغَةً فَخَلَقْنَا ٱلْمُضْغَةَ عِظَـٰمًا فَكَسَوْنَا ٱلْعِظَـٰمَ لَحْمًا ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُ خَلْقًا ءَاخَرَ‌ۚ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ

Yusuf AliThen We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be God, the best t o create

Saheeh InternationalThen We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators

23:15 📚 4
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُم بَعْدَ ذَٲلِكَ لَمَيِّتُونَ

Yusuf AliAfter that, at length ye will die

Saheeh InternationalThen indeed, after that you are to die

23:16
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ تُبْعَثُونَ

Yusuf AliAgain, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up

Saheeh InternationalThen indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected

23:17
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعَ طَرَآئِقَ وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ ٱلْخَلْقِ غَـٰفِلِينَ

Yusuf AliAnd We have made, above you, seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (our) Creation

Saheeh InternationalAnd We have created above you seven layered heavens, and never have We been of [Our] creation unaware

23:18 📚 1
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءَۢ بِقَدَرٍ فَأَسْكَنَّـٰهُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ‌ۖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذَهَابِۭ بِهِۦ لَقَـٰدِرُونَ

Yusuf AliAnd We send down water from the sky according to (due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil; and We certainly are able to drain it off (with ease)

Saheeh InternationalAnd We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away

23:19
فَأَنشَأْنَا لَكُم بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتٍ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَـٰبٍ لَّكُمْ فِيهَا فَوَٲكِهُ كَثِيرَةٌ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ

Yusuf AliWith it We grow for you gardens of date-palms and vines: in them have ye abundant fruits: and of them ye eat (and have enjoyment)

Saheeh InternationalAnd We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat

23:20 📚 1
وَشَجَرَةً تَخْرُجُ مِن طُورِ سَيْنَآءَ تَنۢبُتُ بِٱلدُّهْنِ وَصِبْغٍ لِّلْأَكِلِينَ

Yusuf AliAlso a tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food

Saheeh InternationalAnd [We brought forth] a tree issuing from Mount Sinai which produces oil and food for those who eat

23:21 📚 1
وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ لَعِبْرَةً‌ۖ نُّسْقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِى بُطُونِهَا وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَـٰفِعُ كَثِيرَةٌ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ

Yusuf AliAnd in cattle (too) ye have an instructive example: from within their bodies We produce (milk) for you to drink; there are, in them, (besides), numerous (other) benefits for you; and of their (meat) ye eat

Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, for you in livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are numerous benefits, and from them you eat

23:22 📚 2
وَعَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ تُحْمَلُونَ

Yusuf AliAn on them, as well as in slips, ye side

Saheeh InternationalAnd upon them and on ships you are carried

23:23
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ فَقَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ ٱعْبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَـٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥٓ‌ۖ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Yusuf Ali(Further, We sent a long line of prophets for your instruction). We sent Noah to his people: He said, "O my people! worship God! Ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)

Saheeh InternationalAnd We had certainly sent Noah to his people, and he said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him

23:24
فَقَالَ ٱلْمَلَؤُاْ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَوْمِهِۦ مَا هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَـٰٓئِكَةً مَّا سَمِعْنَا بِهَـٰذَا فِىٓ ءَابَآئِنَا ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

Yusuf AliThe chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: his wish is to assert his superiority over you: if God had wished (to send messengers), He could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a th ing (as he says), among our ancestors of old

Saheeh InternationalBut the eminent among those who disbelieved from his people said, "This is not but a man like yourselves who wishes to take precedence over you; and if Allah had willed [to send a messenger], He would have sent down angels. We have not heard of this among our forefathers

23:25
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلُۢ بِهِۦ جِنَّةٌ فَتَرَبَّصُواْ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ

Yusuf Ali(And some said): "He is only a man possessed: wait (and have patience) with him for a time

Saheeh InternationalHe is not but a man possessed with madness, so wait concerning him for a time

23:26
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرْنِى بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ

Yusuf Ali(Noah) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood

Saheeh International[Noah] said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me

23:27 📚 2
فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ أَنِ ٱصْنَعِ ٱلْفُلْكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَوَحْيِنَا فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمْرُنَا وَفَارَ ٱلتَّنُّورُ‌ۙ فَٱسْلُكْ فِيهَا مِن كُلٍّ زَوْجَيْنِ ٱثْنَيْنِ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْقَوْلُ مِنْهُمْ‌ۖ وَلَا تُخَـٰطِبْنِى فِى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ‌ۖ إِنَّهُم مُّغْرَقُونَ

Yusuf AliSo We inspired him (with this message): "Construct the Ark within Our sight and under Our guidance: then when comes Our Command, and the fountains of the earth gush forth, take thou on board pairs of every species, male and female, and thy fam ily- except those of them against whom the Word has already gone forth: And address Me not in favour of the wrong-doers; for they shall be drowned (in the Flood)

Saheeh InternationalSo We inspired to him, "Construct the ship under Our observation, and Our inspiration, and when Our command comes and the oven overflows, put into the ship from each [creature] two mates and your family, except those for whom the decree [of destruction] has proceeded. And do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are to be drowned

23:28 📚 1
فَإِذَا ٱسْتَوَيْتَ أَنتَ وَمَن مَّعَكَ عَلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ فَقُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى نَجَّـٰنَا مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

Yusuf AliAnd when thou hast embarked on the Ark - thou and those with thee,- say: "Praise be to God, Who has saved us from the people who do wrong

Saheeh InternationalAnd when you have boarded the ship, you and those with you, then say, 'Praise to Allah who has saved us from the wrongdoing people

23:29
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَنزِلْنِى مُنزَلاً مُّبَارَكًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلْمُنزِلِينَ

Yusuf AliAnd say: "O my Lord! enable me to disembark with thy blessing: for Thou art the Best to enable (us) to disembark

Saheeh InternationalAnd say, 'My Lord, let me land at a blessed landing place, and You are the best to accommodate [us]

23:30
إِنَّ فِى ذَٲلِكَ لَأَيَـٰتٍ وَإِن كُنَّا لَمُبْتَلِينَ

Yusuf AliVerily in this there are Signs (for men to understand); (thus) do We try (men)

Saheeh InternationalIndeed in that are signs, and indeed, We are ever testing [Our servants]

23:31
ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا ءَاخَرِينَ

Yusuf AliThen We raised after them another generation

Saheeh InternationalThen We produced after them a generation of others

23:32
فَأَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ رَسُولاً مِّنْهُمْ أَنِ ٱعْبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَـٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥٓ‌ۖ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Yusuf AliAnd We sent to them an apostle from among themselves, (saying), "Worship God! ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)

Saheeh InternationalAnd We sent among them a messenger from themselves, [saying], "Worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him

23:33 📚 1
وَقَالَ ٱلْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَكَذَّبُواْ بِلِقَآءِ ٱلْأَخِرَةِ وَأَتْرَفْنَـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٲةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا مَا هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يَأْكُلُ مِمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ مِنْهُ وَيَشْرَبُ مِمَّا تَشْرَبُونَ

Yusuf AliAnd the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of wha t ye drink

Saheeh InternationalAnd the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink

23:34
وَلَئِنْ أَطَعْتُم بَشَرًا مِّثْلَكُمْ إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّخَـٰسِرُونَ

Yusuf AliIf ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost

Saheeh InternationalAnd if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers

23:35
أَيَعِدُكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ إِذَا مِتُّمْ وَكُنتُمْ تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَنَّكُم مُّخْرَجُونَ

Yusuf AliDoes he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)

Saheeh InternationalDoes he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones that you will be brought forth [once more]

23:36 📚 4
۞ هَيْهَاتَ هَيْهَاتَ لِمَا تُوعَدُونَ

Yusuf AliFar, very far is that which ye are promised

Saheeh InternationalHow far, how far, is that which you are promised

23:37
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوثِينَ

Yusuf AliThere is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again

Saheeh InternationalLife is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected

23:38
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا وَمَا نَحْنُ لَهُۥ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ

Yusuf AliHe is only a man who invents a lie against God, but we are not the ones to believe in him

Saheeh InternationalHe is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him

23:39
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرْنِى بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ

Yusuf Ali(The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood

Saheeh InternationalHe said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me

23:40
قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيلٍ لَّيُصْبِحُنَّ نَـٰدِمِينَ

Yusuf Ali(God) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry

Saheeh International[Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful

23:41
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ غُثَآءً‌ۚ فَبُعْدًا لِّلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

Yusuf AliThen the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong

Saheeh InternationalSo the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people

23:42
ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ قُرُونًا ءَاخَرِينَ

Yusuf AliThen We raised after them other generations

Saheeh InternationalThen We produced after them other generations

23:43
مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَــْٔخِرُونَ

Yusuf AliNo people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it)

Saheeh InternationalNo nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter]

23:44
ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتْرَا‌ۖ كُلَّ مَا جَآءَ أُمَّةً رَّسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوهُ‌ۚ فَأَتْبَعْنَا بَعْضَهُم بَعْضًا وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ أَحَادِيثَ‌ۚ فَبُعْدًا لِّقَوْمٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ

Yusuf AliThen sent We our apostles in succession: every time there came to a people their apostle, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe

Saheeh InternationalThen We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe

23:45
ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَأَخَاهُ هَـٰرُونَ بِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَا وَسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ

Yusuf AliThen We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest

Saheeh InternationalThen We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority

23:46
إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِۦ فَٱسْتَكْبَرُواْ وَكَانُواْ قَوْمًا عَالِينَ

Yusuf AliTo Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people

Saheeh InternationalTo Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people

23:47
فَقَالُوٓاْ أَنُؤْمِنُ لِبَشَرَيْنِ مِثْلِنَا وَقَوْمُهُمَا لَنَا عَـٰبِدُونَ

Yusuf AliThey said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us

Saheeh InternationalThey said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude

23:48
فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَكَانُواْ مِنَ ٱلْمُهْلَكِينَ

Yusuf AliSo they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed

Saheeh InternationalSo they denied them and were of those destroyed

23:49
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ

Yusuf AliAnd We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance

Saheeh InternationalAnd We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided

23:50
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥٓ ءَايَةً وَءَاوَيْنَـٰهُمَآ إِلَىٰ رَبْوَةٍ ذَاتِ قَرَارٍ وَمَعِينٍ

Yusuf AliAnd We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs

Saheeh InternationalAnd We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water

23:51
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلرُّسُلُ كُلُواْ مِنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ وَٱعْمَلُواْ صَـٰلِحًا‌ۖ إِنِّى بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٌ

Yusuf AliO ye apostles! enjoy (all) things good and pure, and work righteousness: for I am well-acquainted with (all) that ye do

Saheeh International[Allah said], "O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed, I, of what you do, am Knowing

23:52
وَإِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٲحِدَةً وَأَنَا۟ رَبُّكُمْ فَٱتَّقُونِ

Yusuf AliAnd verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other)

Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me

23:53
فَتَقَطَّعُوٓاْ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ زُبُرًا‌ۖ كُلُّ حِزْبِۭ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ

Yusuf AliBut people have cut off their affair (of unity), between them, into sects: each party rejoices in that which is with itself

Saheeh InternationalBut the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing

23:54 📚 1
فَذَرْهُمْ فِى غَمْرَتِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ

Yusuf AliBut leave them in their confused ignorance for a time

Saheeh InternationalSo leave them in their confusion for a time

23:55 📚 1
أَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّمَا نُمِدُّهُم بِهِۦ مِن مَّالٍ وَبَنِينَ

Yusuf AliDo they think that because We have granted them abundance of wealth and sons

Saheeh InternationalDo they think that what We extend to them of wealth and children

23:56
نُسَارِعُ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٲتِ‌ۚ بَل لَّا يَشْعُرُونَ

Yusuf AliWe would hasten them on in every good? Nay, they do not understand

Saheeh InternationalIs [because] We hasten for them good things? Rather, they do not perceive

23:57 📚 5
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ خَشْيَةِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ

Yusuf AliVerily those who live in awe for fear of their Lord

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord

23:58
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِـَٔـايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ

Yusuf AliThose who believe in the Signs of their Lord

Saheeh InternationalAnd they who believe in the signs of their Lord

23:59 📚 1
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِرَبِّهِمْ لَا يُشْرِكُونَ

Yusuf AliThose who join not (in worship) partners with their Lord

Saheeh InternationalAnd they who do not associate anything with their Lord

23:60
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَآ ءَاتَواْ وَّقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ رَٲجِعُونَ

Yusuf AliAnd those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord

Saheeh InternationalAnd they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord

23:61
أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٲتِ وَهُمْ لَهَا سَـٰبِقُونَ

Yusuf AliIt is these who hasten in every good work, and these who are foremost in them

Saheeh InternationalIt is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein

23:62
وَلَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا‌ۖ وَلَدَيْنَا كِتَـٰبٌ يَنطِقُ بِٱلْحَقِّ‌ۚ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ

Yusuf AliOn no soul do We place a burden greater than it can bear: before Us is a record which clearly shows the truth: they will never be wronged

Saheeh InternationalAnd We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged

23:63 📚 2
بَلْ قُلُوبُهُمْ فِى غَمْرَةٍ مِّنْ هَـٰذَا وَلَهُمْ أَعْمَـٰلٌ مِّن دُونِ ذَٲلِكَ هُمْ لَهَا عَـٰمِلُونَ

Yusuf AliBut their hearts are in confused ignorance of this; and there are, besides that, deeds of theirs, which they will (continue) to do

Saheeh InternationalBut their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides disbelief which they are doing

23:64
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذْنَا مُتْرَفِيهِم بِٱلْعَذَابِ إِذَا هُمْ يَجْــَٔرُونَ

Yusuf AliUntil, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication

Saheeh InternationalUntil when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, at once they are crying [to Allah] for help

23:65
لَا تَجْــَٔرُواْ ٱلْيَوْمَ‌ۖ إِنَّكُم مِّنَّا لَا تُنصَرُونَ

Yusuf Ali(It will be said): "Groan not in supplication this day: for ye shall certainly not be helped by Us

Saheeh InternationalDo not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped

23:66
قَدْ كَانَتْ ءَايَـٰتِى تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُنتُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَـٰبِكُمْ تَنكِصُونَ

Yusuf AliMy Signs used to be rehearsed to you, but ye used to turn back on your heels

Saheeh InternationalMy verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels

23:67
مُسْتَكْبِرِينَ بِهِۦ سَـٰمِرًا تَهْجُرُونَ

Yusuf AliIn arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night

Saheeh InternationalIn arrogance regarding it, conversing by night, speaking evil

23:68
أَفَلَمْ يَدَّبَّرُواْ ٱلْقَوْلَ أَمْ جَآءَهُم مَّا لَمْ يَأْتِ ءَابَآءَهُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

Yusuf AliDo they not ponder over the Word (of God), or has anything (new) come to them that did not come to their fathers of old

Saheeh InternationalThen have they not reflected over the Qur'an, or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers

23:69
أَمْ لَمْ يَعْرِفُواْ رَسُولَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ

Yusuf AliOr do they not recognise their Apostle, that they deny him

Saheeh InternationalOr did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging

23:70 📚 1
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ بِهِۦ جِنَّةُۢ‌ۚ بَلْ جَآءَهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَـٰرِهُونَ

Yusuf AliOr do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth

Saheeh InternationalOr do they say, "In him is madness?" Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse

23:71
وَلَوِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلْحَقُّ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ لَفَسَدَتِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ‌ۚ بَلْ أَتَيْنَـٰهُم بِذِكْرِهِمْ فَهُمْ عَن ذِكْرِهِم مُّعْرِضُونَ

Yusuf AliIf the Truth had been in accord with their desires, truly the heavens and the earth, and all beings therein would have been in confusion and corruption! Nay, We have sent them their admonition, but they turn away from their admonition

Saheeh InternationalBut if the Truth had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message, but they, from their message, are turning away

23:72
أَمْ تَسْــَٔلُهُمْ خَرْجًا فَخَرَاجُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ‌ۖ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٲزِقِينَ

Yusuf AliOr is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance

Saheeh InternationalOr do you, [O Muhammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers

23:73
وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٲطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

Yusuf AliBut verily thou callest them to the Straight Way

Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, you invite them to a straight path

23:74
وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْأَخِرَةِ عَنِ ٱلصِّرَٲطِ لَنَـٰكِبُونَ

Yusuf AliAnd verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way

Saheeh InternationalBut indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path

23:75 📚 1
۞ وَلَوْ رَحِمْنَـٰهُمْ وَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِم مِّن ضُرٍّ لَّلَجُّواْ فِى طُغْيَـٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ

Yusuf AliIf We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro

Saheeh InternationalAnd even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly

23:76
وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَـٰهُم بِٱلْعَذَابِ فَمَا ٱسْتَكَانُواْ لِرَبِّهِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ

Yusuf AliWe inflicted Punishment on them, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor do they submissively entreat (Him)

Saheeh InternationalAnd We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus]

23:77
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَابًا ذَا عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ إِذَا هُمْ فِيهِ مُبْلِسُونَ

Yusuf AliUntil We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein

Saheeh InternationalUntil when We have opened before them a door of severe punishment, immediately they will be therein in despair

23:78
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْــِٔدَةَ‌ۚ قَلِيلاً مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ

Yusuf AliIt is He Who has created for you (the faculties of) hearing, sight, feeling and understanding: little thanks it is ye give

Saheeh InternationalAnd it is He who produced for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful

23:79 📚 2
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى ذَرَأَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ

Yusuf AliAnd He has multiplied you through the earth, and to Him shall ye be gathered back

Saheeh InternationalAnd it is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered

23:80
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ وَلَهُ ٱخْتِلَـٰفُ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ‌ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

Yusuf AliIt is He Who gives life and death, and to Him (is due) the alternation of Night and Day: will ye not then understand

Saheeh InternationalAnd it is He who gives life and causes death, and His is the alternation of the night and the day. Then will you not reason

23:81 📚 1
بَلْ قَالُواْ مِثْلَ مَا قَالَ ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ

Yusuf AliOn the contrary they say things similar to what the ancients said

Saheeh InternationalRather, they say like what the former peoples said

23:82
قَالُوٓاْ أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ

Yusuf AliThey say: "What! when we die and become dust and bones, could we really be raised up again

Saheeh InternationalThey said, "When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected

23:83
لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا نَحْنُ وَءَابَآؤُنَا هَـٰذَا مِن قَبْلُ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

Yusuf AliSuch things have been promised to us and to our fathers before! they are nothing but tales of the ancients

Saheeh InternationalWe have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before; this is not but legends of the former peoples

23:84 📚 1
قُل لِّمَنِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

Yusuf AliSay: "To whom belong the earth and all beings therein? (say) if ye know

Saheeh InternationalSay, [O Muhammad], "To whom belongs the earth and whoever is in it, if you should know

23:85 📚 1
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ‌ۚ قُلْ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

Yusuf AliThey will say, "To God!" say: "Yet will ye not receive admonition

Saheeh InternationalThey will say, "To Allah." Say, "Then will you not remember

23:86
قُلْ مَن رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ ٱلسَّبْعِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

Yusuf AliSay: "Who is the Lord of the seven heavens, and the Lord of the Throne (of Glory) Supreme

Saheeh InternationalSay, "Who is Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Great Throne

23:87 📚 1
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ‌ۚ قُلْ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Yusuf AliThey will say, "(They belong) to God." Say: "Will ye not then be filled with awe

Saheeh InternationalThey will say, "[They belong] to Allah." Say, "Then will you not fear Him

23:88 📚 2
قُلْ مَنۢ بِيَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُوَ يُجِيرُ وَلَا يُجَارُ عَلَيْهِ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

Yusuf AliSay: "Who is it in whose hands is the governance of all things,- who protects (all), but is not protected (of any)? (say) if ye know

Saheeh InternationalSay, "In whose hand is the realm of all things - and He protects while none can protect against Him - if you should know

23:89 📚 1
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ‌ۚ قُلْ فَأَنَّىٰ تُسْحَرُونَ

Yusuf AliThey will say, "(It belongs) to God." Say: "Then how are ye deluded

Saheeh InternationalThey will say, "[All belongs] to Allah." Say, "Then how are you deluded

23:90
بَلْ أَتَيْنَـٰهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ

Yusuf AliWe have sent them the Truth: but they indeed practise falsehood

Saheeh InternationalRather, We have brought them the truth, and indeed they are liars

23:91 📚 5
مَا ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِن وَلَدٍ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُۥ مِنْ إِلَـٰهٍ‌ۚ إِذًا لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَـٰهِۭ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ‌ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ

Yusuf AliNo son did God beget, nor is there any god along with Him: (if there were many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have lorded it over others! Glory to God! (He is free) from the (sort of) things t hey attribute to Him

Saheeh InternationalAllah has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have sought to overcome others. Exalted is Allah above what they describe [concerning Him]

23:92
عَـٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ فَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

Yusuf AliHe knows what is hidden and what is open: too high is He for the partners they attribute to Him

Saheeh International[He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, so high is He above what they associate [with Him]

23:93
قُل رَّبِّ إِمَّا تُرِيَنِّى مَا يُوعَدُونَ

Yusuf AliSay: "O my Lord! if Thou wilt show me (in my lifetime) that which they are warned against

Saheeh InternationalSay, [O Muhammad], "My Lord, if You should show me that which they are promised

23:94
رَبِّ فَلَا تَجْعَلْنِى فِى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

Yusuf AliThen, O my Lord! put me not amongst the people who do wrong

Saheeh InternationalMy Lord, then do not place me among the wrongdoing people

23:95
وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّرِيَكَ مَا نَعِدُهُمْ لَقَـٰدِرُونَ

Yusuf AliAnd We are certainly able to show thee (in fulfilment) that against which they are warned

Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, We are able to show you what We have promised them

23:96
ٱدْفَعْ بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ‌ۚ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَصِفُونَ

Yusuf AliRepel evil with that which is best: We are well acquainted with the things they say

Saheeh InternationalRepel, by [means of] what is best, [their] evil. We are most knowing of what they describe

23:97
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَٲتِ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ

Yusuf AliAnd say "O my Lord! I seek refuge with Thee from the suggestions of the Evil Ones

Saheeh InternationalAnd say, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils

23:98 📚 7
وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَن يَحْضُرُونِ

Yusuf AliAnd I seek refuge with Thee O my Lord! lest they should come near me

Saheeh InternationalAnd I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me

23:99 📚 4
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ قَالَ رَبِّ ٱرْجِعُونِ

Yusuf Ali(In Falsehood will they be) Until, when death comes to one of them, he says: "O my Lord! send me back (to life)

Saheeh International[For such is the state of the disbelievers], until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back

23:100 📚 1
لَعَلِّىٓ أَعْمَلُ صَـٰلِحًا فِيمَا تَرَكْتُ‌ۚ كَلَّآ‌ۚ إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَآئِلُهَا‌ۖ وَمِن وَرَآئِهِم بَرْزَخٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ

Yusuf AliIn order that I may work righteousness in the things I neglected." - "By no means! It is but a word he says."- Before them is a Partition till the Day they are raised up

Saheeh InternationalThat I might do righteousness in that which I left behind." No! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected

23:101 📚 5
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَلَآ أَنسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَلَا يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

Yusuf AliThen when the Trumpet is blown, there will be no more relationships between them that Day, nor will one ask after another

Saheeh InternationalSo when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another

23:102
فَمَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٲزِينُهُۥ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

Yusuf AliThen those whose balance (of good deeds) is heavy,- they will attain salvation

Saheeh InternationalAnd those whose scales are heavy [with good deeds] - it is they who are the successful

23:103
وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٲزِينُهُۥ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمْ فِى جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدُونَ

Yusuf AliBut those whose balance is light, will be those who have lost their souls, in Hell will they abide

Saheeh InternationalBut those whose scales are light - those are the ones who have lost their souls, [being] in Hell, abiding eternally

23:104
تَلْفَحُ وُجُوهَهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَهُمْ فِيهَا كَـٰلِحُونَ

Yusuf AliThe Fire will burn their faces, and they will therein grin, with their lips displaced

Saheeh InternationalThe Fire will sear their faces, and they therein will have taut smiles

23:105
أَلَمْ تَكُنْ ءَايَـٰتِى تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ

Yusuf AliWere not My Signs rehearsed to you, and ye did but treat them as falsehood

Saheeh International[It will be said]. "Were not My verses recited to you and you used to deny them

23:106
قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتْ عَلَيْنَا شِقْوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوْمًا ضَآلِّينَ

Yusuf AliThey will say: "our Lord! Our misfortune overwhelmed us, and we became a people astray

Saheeh InternationalThey will say, "Our Lord, our wretchedness overcame us, and we were a people astray

23:107 📚 5
رَبَّنَآ أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْهَا فَإِنْ عُدْنَا فَإِنَّا ظَـٰلِمُونَ

Yusuf AliOur Lord! bring us out of this: if ever we return (to Evil), then shall we be wrong-doers indeed

Saheeh InternationalOur Lord, remove us from it, and if we were to return [to evil], we would indeed be wrongdoers

23:108
قَالَ ٱخْسَــُٔواْ فِيهَا وَلَا تُكَلِّمُونِ

Yusuf AliHe will say: "Be ye driven into it (with ignominy)! And speak ye not to Me

Saheeh InternationalHe will say, "Remain despised therein and do not speak to Me

23:109
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْ عِبَادِى يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَٱرْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٲحِمِينَ

Yusuf AliA part of My servants there was, who used to pray 'our Lord! we believe; then do Thou forgive us, and have mercy upon us: For Thou art the Best of those who show mercy

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, there was a party of My servants who said, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful

23:110
فَٱتَّخَذْتُمُوهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا حَتَّىٰٓ أَنسَوْكُمْ ذِكْرِى وَكُنتُم مِّنْهُمْ تَضْحَكُونَ

Yusuf AliBut ye treated them with ridicule, so much so that (ridicule of) them made you forget My Message while ye were laughing at them

Saheeh InternationalBut you took them in mockery to the point that they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them

23:111
إِنِّى جَزَيْتُهُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ بِمَا صَبَرُوٓاْ أَنَّهُمْ هُمُ ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ

Yusuf AliI have rewarded them this Day for their patience and constancy: they are indeed the ones that have achieved Bliss

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, I have rewarded them this Day for their patient endurance - that they are the attainers [of success]

23:112 📚 2
قَـٰلَ كَمْ لَبِثْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ عَدَدَ سِنِينَ

Yusuf AliHe will say: "What number of years did ye stay on earth

Saheeh International[Allah] will say, "How long did you remain on earth in number of years

23:113 📚 3
قَالُواْ لَبِثْنَا يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍ فَسْــَٔلِ ٱلْعَآدِّينَ

Yusuf AliThey will say: "We stayed a day or part of a day: but ask those who keep account

Saheeh InternationalThey will say, "We remained a day or part of a day; ask those who enumerate

23:114
قَـٰلَ إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلاً‌ۖ لَّوْ أَنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

Yusuf AliHe will say: "Ye stayed not but a little,- if ye had only known

Saheeh InternationalHe will say, "You stayed not but a little - if only you had known

23:115
أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ عَبَثًا وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا تُرْجَعُونَ

Yusuf AliDid ye then think that We had created you in jest, and that ye would not be brought back to Us (for account)

Saheeh InternationalThen did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you would not be returned

23:116 📚 6
فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱلْحَقُّ‌ۖ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْكَرِيمِ

Yusuf AliTherefore exalted be God, the King, the Reality: there is no god but He, the Lord of the Throne of Honour

Saheeh InternationalSo exalted is Allah, the Sovereign, the Truth; there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne

23:117 📚 1
وَمَن يَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ لَا بُرْهَـٰنَ لَهُۥ بِهِۦ فَإِنَّمَا حِسَابُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦٓ‌ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ

Yusuf AliIf anyone invokes, besides God, Any other god, he has no authority therefor; and his reckoning will be only with his Lord! and verily the Unbelievers will fail to win through

Saheeh InternationalAnd whoever invokes besides Allah another deity for which he has no proof - then his account is only with his Lord. Indeed, the disbelievers will not succeed

23:118 📚 1
وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ وَٱرْحَمْ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٲحِمِينَ

Yusuf AliSo say: "O my Lord! grant Thou forgiveness and mercy for Thou art the Best of those who show mercy

Saheeh InternationalAnd, [O Muhammad], say, "My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful
