Saheeh InternationalNo one disputes concerning the signs of Allah except those who disbelieve, so be not deceived by their [uninhibited] movement throughout the land

Yusuf AliBut (there were people) before them, who denied (the Signs),- the People of Noah, and the Confederates (of Evil) after them; and every People plotted against their prophet, to seize him, and disputed by means of vanities, therewith to condemn the Truth; but it was I that seized them! and how (terrible) was My Requital

Saheeh InternationalThe people of Noah denied before them and the [disbelieving] factions after them, and every nation intended [a plot] for their messenger to seize him, and they disputed by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth. So I seized them, and how [terrible] was My penalty

Saheeh InternationalAnd thus has the word of your Lord come into effect upon those who disbelieved that they are companions of the Fire

Yusuf AliThose who sustain the Throne (of God) and those around it Sing Glory and Praise to their Lord; believe in Him; and implore Forgiveness for those who believe: "Our Lord! Thy Reach is over all things, in Mercy and Knowledge. Forgive, then, those who turn in Repentance, and follow Thy Path; and preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire

Saheeh InternationalThose [angels] who carry the Throne and those around it exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord and believe in Him and ask forgiveness for those who have believed, [saying], "Our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who have repented and followed Your way and protect them from the punishment of Hellfire

Yusuf AliAnd grant, our Lord! that they enter the Gardens of Eternity, which Thou hast promised to them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their posterity! For Thou art (He), the Exalted in Might, Full of Wisdom

Saheeh InternationalOur Lord, and admit them to gardens of perpetual residence which You have promised them and whoever was righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their offspring. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise

Yusuf AliAnd preserve them from (all) ills; and any whom Thou dost preserve from ills that Day,- on them wilt Thou have bestowed Mercy indeed: and that will be truly (for them) the highest Achievement

Saheeh InternationalAnd protect them from the evil consequences [of their deeds]. And he whom You protect from evil consequences that Day - You will have given him mercy. And that is the great attainment

Yusuf AliThe Unbelievers will be addressed: "Greater was the aversion of God to you than (is) your aversion to yourselves, seeing that ye were called to the Faith and ye used to refuse

Saheeh InternationalIndeed, those who disbelieve will be addressed, "The hatred of Allah for you was [even] greater than your hatred of yourselves [this Day in Hell] when you were invited to faith, but you refused

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırO kâfirlere mutlaka şöyle bağırılacaktır: "Elbette Allah'ın buğzu, sizin nefislerinize buğzunuzdan daha büyüktür. Çünkü siz imana davet ediliyordunuz da inkâr ediyordunuz

Yusuf AliThey will say: "Our Lord! twice hast Thou made us without life, and twice hast Thou given us Life! Now have we recognised our sins: Is there any way out (of this)

Saheeh InternationalThey will say, "Our Lord, You made us lifeless twice and gave us life twice, and we have confessed our sins. So is there to an exit any way

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırKâfirler diyecekler ki: "Ey Rabbimiz! Sen bizi iki defa öldürdün, iki defa dirilttin. Şimdi günahlarımızı anladık. Fakat çıkmaya bir yol var mı

Yusuf Ali(The answer will be:) "This is because, when God was invoked as the Only (object of worship), ye did reject Faith, but when partners were joined to Him, ye believed! the Command is with God, Most High, Most Great

Saheeh International[They will be told], "That is because, when Allah was called upon alone, you disbelieved; but if others were associated with Him, you believed. So the judgement is with Allah, the Most High, the Grand

Yusuf AliHe it is Who showeth you his Signs, and sendeth down sustenance for you from the sky: but only those receive admonition who turn (to God)

Saheeh InternationalIt is He who shows you His signs and sends down to you from the sky, provision. But none will remember except he who turns back [in repentance]

Yusuf AliCall ye, then, upon God with sincere devotion to Him, even though the Unbelievers may detest it

Saheeh InternationalSo invoke Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, although the disbelievers dislike it

Yusuf AliRaised high above ranks (or degrees), (He is) the Lord of the Throne (of Authority): by His Command doth He send the Spirit (of inspiration) to any of His servants he pleases, that it may warn (men) of the Day of Mutual Meeting

Saheeh International[He is] the Exalted above [all] degrees, Owner of the Throne; He places the inspiration of His command upon whom He wills of His servants to warn of the Day of Meeting

Yusuf AliThe Day whereon they will (all) come forth: not a single thing concerning them is hidden from God. Whose will be the dominion that Day?" That of God, the One the Irresistible

Saheeh InternationalThe Day they come forth nothing concerning them will be concealed from Allah. To whom belongs [all] sovereignty this Day? To Allah, the One, the Prevailing

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırO gün onlar kabirlerinden meydana fırlarlar. Kendilerinin hiçbir şeyi Allah'a karşı gizli kalmaz. "Bugün mülk kimindir?" (diye sorulur. Cevaben): "Tek ve kahhar olan Allah'ındır." (denir)

Yusuf AliThat Day will every soul be requited for what it earned; no injustice will there be that Day, for God is Swift in taking account

Saheeh InternationalThis Day every soul will be recompensed for what it earned. No injustice today! Indeed, Allah is swift in account

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırBugün her nefis kazandığı ile cezalanacaktır. Bugün zulüm yoktur. Şüphesiz Allah, hesabı çabuk görendir

Yusuf AliWarn them of the Day that is (ever) drawing near, when the hearts will (come) right up to the throats to choke (them); No intimate friend nor intercessor will the wrong-doers have, who could be listened to

Saheeh InternationalAnd warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Approaching Day, when hearts are at the throats, filled [with distress]. For the wrongdoers there will be no devoted friend and no intercessor [who is] obeyed

Yusuf Ali(God) knows of (the tricks) that deceive with the eyes, and all that the hearts (of men) conceal

Saheeh InternationalHe knows that which deceives the eyes and what the breasts conceal

Yusuf AliAnd God will judge with (justice and) Truth: but those whom (men) invoke besides Him, will not (be in a position) to judge at all. Verily it is God (alone) Who hears and sees (all things)

Saheeh InternationalAnd Allah judges with truth, while those they invoke besides Him judge not with anything. Indeed, Allah - He is the Hearing, the Seeing

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırAllah hakkı yerine getirir. Onların O'ndan başka yalvardıkları ise hiçbir şeyi yerine getiremezler. Çünkü hakkıyla işiten ve gören ancak Allah'tır

Yusuf AliDo they not travel through the earth and see what was the End of those before them? They were even superior to them in strength, and in the traces (they have left) in the land: but God did call them to account for their sins, and none had they to defend them against God

Saheeh InternationalHave they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those who were before them? They were greater than them in strength and in impression on the land, but Allah seized them for their sins. And they had not from Allah any protector

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırYeryüzünde bir gezmediler mi? Baksalar ya kendilerinden öncekilerin sonları nasıl olmuş? Onlar yeryüzünde gerek kuvvetçe ve gerek eserce kendilerinden daha üstündüler. Öyle iken Allah onları günahları sebebiyle tutup alıverdi. Kendilerini Allah'ın azabından koruyacak biri bulunmadı

Yusuf AliThat was because there came to them their apostles with Clear (Signs), but they rejected them: So God called them to account: for He is Full of Strength, Strict in Punishment

Saheeh InternationalThat was because their messengers were coming to them with clear proofs, but they disbelieved, so Allah seized them. Indeed, He is Powerful and severe in punishment

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırO, şundandı: Onlara peygamberleri apaçık delillerle geliyorlardı. Ama onlar inkâr ettiler. Allah da tuttu kendilerini alıverdi. Çünkü O'nun kuvveti çok, azabı şiddetlidir

Yusuf AliOf old We sent Moses, with Our Signs and an authority manifest

Saheeh InternationalAnd We did certainly send Moses with Our signs and a clear authority

Yusuf AliTo Pharaoh, Haman, and Qarun; but they called (him)" a sorcerer telling lies

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırFiravun'a, Hâmân'a ve Karun'a da onlar: "Bu bir sihirbaz, bir yalancıdır" dediler

Yusuf AliNow, when he came to them in Truth, from Us, they said, "Slay the sons of those who believe with him, and keep alive their females," but the plots of Unbelievers (end) in nothing but errors (and delusions)

Saheeh InternationalAnd when he brought them the truth from Us, they said, "Kill the sons of those who have believed with him and keep their women alive." But the plan of the disbelievers is not except in error

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırBunun üzerine Musa, kendilerine tarafımızdan hakkı getirince de: "Onunla beraber iman etmiş olanların oğullarını öldürün, kadınlarını diri tutun." dediler. Fakat o kâfirlerin tuzağı da hep boşa çıkmaktadır

Yusuf AliSaid Pharaoh: "Leave me to slay Moses; and let him call on his Lord! What I fear is lest he should change your religion, or lest he should cause mischief to appear in the land

Saheeh InternationalAnd Pharaoh said, "Let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord. Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or that he will cause corruption in the land

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırBir de Firavun: "Bırakın beni, öldüreyim Musa'yı da o Rabbine dua etsin. Çünkü ben onun, dininizi değiştirmesinden veya yeryüzünde bir bozgunculuk çıkarmasından korkuyorum" dedi

Yusuf AliMoses said: "I have indeed called upon my Lord and your Lord (for protection) from every arrogant one who believes not in the Day of Account

Saheeh InternationalBut Moses said, "Indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant one who does not believe in the Day of Account

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırMusa da: "Ben hesap gününe inanmayan her kibirliden, benim de Rabbim, sizin de Rabbiniz olan Allah'a sığınırım" dedi

Yusuf AliA believer, a man from among the people of Pharaoh, who had concealed his faith, said: "Will ye slay a man because he says, 'My Lord is God'?- when he has indeed come to you with Clear (Signs) from your Lord? and if he be a liar, on him is (th e sin of) his lie: but, if he is telling the Truth, then will fall on you something of the (calamity) of which he warns you: Truly God guides not one who transgresses and lies

Saheeh InternationalAnd a believing man from the family of Pharaoh who concealed his faith said, "Do you kill a man [merely] because he says, 'My Lord is Allah' while he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord? And if he should be lying, then upon him is [the consequence of] his lie; but if he should be truthful, there will strike you some of what he promises you. Indeed, Allah does not guide one who is a transgressor and a liar

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırFiravun ailesinden imanını saklayan bir adam da şöyle dedi: "Bir adamı, Rabbim Allah dediği için öldürecek misiniz? Halbuki o size Rabbinizden delillerle gelmiştir. Hem o bir yalancı ise çok sürmez, yalanı boynuna geçer. Fakat doğru ise size yaptığı tehditlerin birkısmı olsun başınıza gelir. Şüphe yok ki Allah aşırı giden bir yalancıyı doğru yola çıkarmaz

Yusuf AliO my People! Yours is the dominion this day: Ye have the upper hand in the land: but who will help us from the Punishment of God, should it befall us?" Pharaoh said: "I but point out to you that which I see (myself); Nor do I guide you but to the Path of Right

Saheeh InternationalO my people, sovereignty is yours today, [your being] dominant in the land. But who would protect us from the punishment of Allah if it came to us?" Pharaoh said, "I do not show you except what I see, and I do not guide you except to the way of right conduct

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırEy kavmim! Bugün mülk sizindir. Dünyada yüze çıkmış bulunuyorsunuz. Eğer gelecek olursa Allah'ın hışmından bizi kim kurtarır?" Firavun: "Ben size görüşümden başkasını göstermiyorum ve herhalde ben size doğru yolu gösteriyorum" dedi

Yusuf AliThen said the man who believed: "O my people! Truly I do fear for you something like the Day (of disaster) of the Confederates (in sin)

Saheeh InternationalAnd he who believed said, "O my people, indeed I fear for you [a fate] like the day of the companies

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırO iman etmiş olan kimse de: "Ey kavmim! Doğrusu ben sizin hakkınızda Ahzab (önceki çeşitli toplumlar)ın günleri gibi bir günden korkuyorum

Yusuf AliSomething like the fate of the People of Noah, the 'Ad, and the Thamud, and those who came after them: but God never wishes injustice to his Servants

Saheeh InternationalLike the custom of the people of Noah and of 'Aad and Thamud and those after them. And Allah wants no injustice for [His] servants

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırNuh Kavmi'nin, Âd'ın, Semud'un ve daha sonrakilerin maceraları gibi (bir günün geleceğinden korkuyorum). Allah, kulları için bir zulüm istemez

Yusuf AliAnd O my people! I fear for you a Day when there will be Mutual calling (and wailing)

Saheeh InternationalAnd O my people, indeed I fear for you the Day of Calling

Yusuf AliA Day when ye shall turn your backs and flee: No defender shall ye have from God: Any whom God leaves to stray, there is none to guide

Saheeh InternationalThe Day you will turn your backs fleeing; there is not for you from Allah any protector. And whoever Allah leaves astray - there is not for him any guide

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırO gün arkanıza dönüp kaçacaksınız. Fakat sizi Allah'tan koruyacak olan yoktur. Her kimi Allah şaşırtırsa, artık ona bir yol gösterici bulunmaz

Yusuf AliAnd to you there came Joseph in times gone by, with Clear Signs, but ye ceased not to doubt of the (Mission) for which he had come: At length, when he died, ye said: 'No apostle will God send after him.' thus doth God leave to stray such as t ransgress and live in doubt

Saheeh InternationalAnd Joseph had already come to you before with clear proofs, but you remained in doubt of that which he brought to you, until when he died, you said, 'Never will Allah send a messenger after him.' Thus does Allah leave astray he who is a transgressor and skeptic

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırBundan önce size delillerle Yusuf gelmişti. O zaman da onun size getirdiği hakikatte şüphe edip durmuştunuz. Nihayet vefat ettiğinde de "Bundan sonra Allah asla peygamber göndermez" dediniz. İşte aşırı şüpheci olanları Allah böyle şaşırtır

Yusuf Ali(Such) as dispute about the Signs of God, without any authority that hath reached them, grievous and odious (is such conduct) in the sight of God and of the Believers. Thus doth God, seal up every heart - of arrogant and obstinate Transgresso rs

Saheeh InternationalThose who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without an authority having come to them - great is hatred [of them] in the sight of Allah and in the sight of those who have believed. Thus does Allah seal over every heart [belonging to] an arrogant tyrant

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırOnlar, kendilerine gelmiş bir delil olmaksızın, Allah'ın âyetleri hakkında mücadele ederler. Bu durum, Allah katında ve iman edenler yanında büyük bir buğzu gerektirir. İşte Allah, her böbürlenen zorbanın kalbini öyle bir tabiat ile mühürler

Yusuf AliPharaoh said: "O Haman! Build me a lofty palace, that I may attain the ways and means

Saheeh InternationalAnd Pharaoh said, "O Haman, construct for me a tower that I might reach the ways

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırFiravun dedi ki: "Ey Hâmân! Bana bir kule yap, belki ben o yollara ulaşabilirim

Yusuf AliThe ways and means of (reaching) the heavens, and that I may mount up to the God of Moses: But as far as I am concerned, I think (Moses) is a liar!" Thus was made alluring, in Pharaoh's eyes, the evil of his deeds, and he was hindered from the Path; and the plot of Pharaoh led to nothing but perdition (for him)

Saheeh InternationalThe ways into the heavens - so that I may look at the deity of Moses; but indeed, I think he is a liar." And thus was made attractive to Pharaoh the evil of his deed, and he was averted from the [right] way. And the plan of Pharaoh was not except in ruin

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırGöklerin yollarına ulaşabilirim de, Musa'nın ilâhının ne olduğunu anlarım. Ben onu mutlaka yalancı sanıyorum." İşte böylece Firavun'a kötü ameli süslü gösterildi de yoldan çıkarıldı. Çünkü Firavun düzeni hep boşa çıkar

Yusuf AliThe man who believed said further: "O my people! Follow me: I will lead you to the Path of Right

Saheeh InternationalAnd he who believed said, "O my people, follow me, I will guide you to the way of right conduct

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırO iman etmiş olan kimse dedi ki: "Ey kavmim! Bana uyun ki size doğru yolu göstereyim

Yusuf AliO my people! This life of the present is nothing but (temporary) convenience: It is the Hereafter that is the Home that will last

Saheeh InternationalO my people, this worldly life is only [temporary] enjoyment, and indeed, the Hereafter - that is the home of [permanent] settlement

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırEy kavmim! Bu dünya hayatı ancak geçici bir menfaatten ibarettir. Ahiret ise durulacak karar yurdudur

Yusuf AliHe that works evil will not be requited but by the like thereof: and he that works a righteous deed - whether man or woman - and is a Believer- such will enter the Garden (of Bliss): Therein will they have abundance without measure

Saheeh InternationalWhoever does an evil deed will not be recompensed except by the like thereof; but whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - those will enter Paradise, being given provision therein without account

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırHer kim bir kötülük yaparsa, ona ancak yaptığının bir misli ile ceza verilir. Erkek veya kadın, her kim de mümin olarak iyi bir amel işlerse, işte onlar cennete girerler. Orada kendilerine hesapsız rızık verilir

Yusuf AliAnd O my people! How (strange) it is for me to call you to Salvation while ye call me to the Fire

Saheeh InternationalAnd O my people, how is it that I invite you to salvation while you invite me to the Fire

Yusuf AliYe do call upon me to blaspheme against God, and to join with Him partners of whom I have no knowledge; and I call you to the Exalted in Power, Who forgives again and again

Saheeh InternationalYou invite me to disbelieve in Allah and associate with Him that of which I have no knowledge, and I invite you to the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırSiz beni Allah'ı inkâr etmeye ve bence hiç ilimde yeri olmayan şeyleri O'na ortak koşmaya davet ediyorsunuz. Ben ise sizi o çok güçlü ve çok bağışlayıcı olan Allah'a davet ediyorum

Yusuf AliWithout doubt ye do call me to one who is not fit to be called to, whether in this world, or in the Hereafter; our return will be to God; and the Transgressors will be Companions of the Fire

Saheeh InternationalAssuredly, that to which you invite me has no [response to a] supplication in this world or in the Hereafter; and indeed, our return is to Allah, and indeed, the transgressors will be companions of the Fire

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırHiç inkâr edilemez ki, gerçekten sizin beni davet ettiğiniz şeyin dünyada da, ahirette de bir davet hakkı yoktur. Hepimizin dönüşü Allah'adır. Şüphesiz haddi aşanların hepsi cehennemliktir

Yusuf AliSoon will ye remember what I say to you (now), My (own) affair I commit to God: for God (ever) watches over His Servants

Saheeh InternationalAnd you will remember what I [now] say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allah. Indeed, Allah is Seeing of [His] servants

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırSiz benim söylediklerimi sonra anlayacaksınız. Ben işimi Allah'a havale ediyorum. Şüphesiz Allah, kullarını görür, gözetir

Yusuf AliThen God saved him from (every) ill that they plotted (against him), but the burnt of the Penalty encompassed on all sides the People of Pharaoh

Saheeh InternationalSo Allah protected him from the evils they plotted, and the people of Pharaoh were enveloped by the worst of punishment

Saheeh InternationalAnd [mention] when they will argue within the Fire, and the weak will say to those who had been arrogant, "Indeed, we were [only] your followers, so will you relieve us of a share of the Fire

Saheeh InternationalIt is He who created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot; then He brings you out as a child; then [He develops you] that you reach your [time of] maturity, then [further] that you become elders. And among you is he who is taken in death before [that], so that you reach a specified term; and perhaps you will use reason

Yusuf AliThat was because ye were wont to rejoice on the earth in things other than the Truth, and that ye were wont to be insolent

Saheeh International[The angels will say], "That was because you used to exult upon the earth without right and you used to behave insolently

Yusuf AliEnter ye the gates of Hell, to dwell therein: and evil is (this) abode of the arrogant

Saheeh InternationalSo be patient, [O Muhammad]; indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And whether We show you some of what We have promised them or We take you in death, it is to Us they will be returned

Yusuf AliWe did aforetime send apostles before thee: of them there are some whose story We have related to thee, and some whose story We have not related to thee. It was not (possible) for any apostle to bring a sign except by the leave of God: but whe n the Command of God issued, the matter was decided in truth and justice, and there perished, there and then those who stood on Falsehoods

Saheeh InternationalAnd We have already sent messengers before you. Among them are those [whose stories] We have related to you, and among them are those [whose stories] We have not related to you. And it was not for any messenger to bring a sign [or verse] except by permission of Allah. So when the command of Allah comes, it will be concluded in truth, and the falsifiers will thereupon lose [all]

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırAndolsun ki biz senin önünden nice peygamberler göndermişizdir. Onlardan kimini sana anlatmışız, kimini de anlatmamışızdır. Yusuf AliIt is God Who made cattle for you, that ye may use some for riding and some for food

Saheeh InternationalIt is Allah who made for you the grazing animals upon which you ride, and some of them you eat

Yusuf AliAnd there are (other) advantages in them for you (besides); that ye may through them attain to any need (there may be) in your hearts; and on them and on ships ye are carried

Saheeh InternationalAnd for you therein are [other] benefits and that you may realize upon them a need which is in your breasts; and upon them and upon ships you are carried

Yusuf AliDo they not travel through the earth and see what was the End of those before them? They were more numerous than these and superior in strength and in the traces (they have left) in the land: Yet all that they accomplished was of no profit to them

Saheeh InternationalHave they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? They were more numerous than themselves and greater in strength and in impression on the land, but they were not availed by what they used to earn

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırDaha yeryüzünde gezip de bir bakmazlar mı? Kendilerinden öncekilerin sonu nasıl olmuş? Onlar kendilerinden hem daha çok, hem de kuvvetçe ve yeryüzündeki eserlerinin sağlamlığı bakımından daha çetindiler. Öyle iken o kazandıkları şeyler, kendilerini kurtaramadı

Yusuf AliFor when their apostles came to them with Clear Signs, they exulted in such knowledge (and skill) as they had; but that very (Wrath) at which they were wont to scoff hemmed them in

Saheeh InternationalAnd when their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they [merely] rejoiced in what they had of knowledge, but they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırÇünkü onlara peygamberleri, delillerle geldikleri zaman, kendilerinde bulunan ilme güvendiler de o alay ettikleri şey onları kuşatıverdi

Yusuf AliBut when they saw Our Punishment, they said: "We believe in God,- the one God - and we reject the partners we used to join with Him

Saheeh InternationalAnd when they saw Our punishment, they said," We believe in Allah alone and disbelieve in that which we used to associate with Him

Elmalılı Hamdi YazırO zaman hışmımızı gördüklerinde: "Allah'ın birliğine inandık ve O'na şirk koştuğumuz şeyleri inkâr ettik" dediler

Yusuf AliBut their professing the Faith when they (actually) saw Our Punishment was not going to profit them. (Such has been) God's Way of dealing with His Servants (from the most ancient times). And even thus did the Rejecters of God perish (utterly)

Saheeh InternationalBut never did their faith benefit them once they saw Our punishment. [It is] the established way of Allah which has preceded among His servants. And the disbelievers thereupon lost [all]
