44. Ad-Dukhaan سُورَةُ الدُّخَانِ
Saheeh InternationalHa, Meem
Yusuf AliHa-Mim
«حم» الله أعلم بمراده به.
Saheeh InternationalBy the clear Book
Yusuf AliBy the Book that makes things clear
«والكتاب» القرآن «المبين» المظهر الحلال من الحرام.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]
Yusuf AliWe sent it down during a Blessed Night: for We (ever) wish to warn (against Evil)
«إنا أنزلناه في ليلة مباركة» هي ليلة القدر أو ليلة النصف من شعبان، نزل فيها من أم الكتاب من السماء السابعة إلى سماء الدنيا «إنا كنا منذرين» مخوِّفين به.
Saheeh InternationalOn that night is made distinct every precise matter
Yusuf AliIn the (Night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom
«فيها» أي في ليلة القدر أو ليلة النصف من شعبان «يفرق» يفصل «كل أمر حكيم» محكم من الأرزاق والآجال وغيرهما التي تكون في السنة إلى مثل تلك الليلة.
Saheeh International[Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger]
Yusuf AliBy command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations)
«أمراً» فرقاً «من عندنا إنا كنا مرسلين» الرسل محمداً ومن قبله.
Saheeh InternationalAs mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing
Yusuf AliAs Mercy from thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things)
«رحمة» رأفة بالمرسل إليهم «من ربك إنه هو السميع» لأقوالهم «العليم» بأفعالهم.
Saheeh InternationalLord of the heavens and the earth and that between them, if you would be certain
Yusuf AliThe Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith
«رب السماوات والأرض وما بينهما» برفع رب خبر ثالث وبجره بدل من ربك «إن كنتم» يا أهل مكة «موقنين» بأنه تعالى رب السماوات والأرض فأيقنوا بأن محمداً رسوله.
Saheeh InternationalThere is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death. [He is] your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers
Yusuf AliThere is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors
«لا إله إلا هو يحيي ويميت ربكم ورب آبائكم الأولين».
Saheeh InternationalBut they are in doubt, amusing themselves
Yusuf AliYet they play about in doubt
(بل هم في شك) من البعث (يلعبون) استهزاء بك يا محمد، فقال: "" اللهم أعني عليهم بسبع كسبع يوسف "".
Saheeh InternationalThen watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke
Yusuf AliThen watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible
قال تعالى: «فارتقب يوم تأتي السماء بدخان مبين» فأجدبت الأرض واشتد بهم الجوع إلى أن رأوا من شدته كهيئة الدخان بين السماء والأرض.
Saheeh InternationalCovering the people; this is a painful torment
Yusuf AliEnveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous
«يغشى الناس» فقالوا «هذا عذاب أليم».
Saheeh International[They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers
Yusuf Ali(They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe
«ربنا اكشف عنا العذاب إنا مؤمنون» مصدقون نبيك.
Saheeh InternationalHow will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them a clear Messenger
Yusuf AliHow shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Apostle explaining things clearly has (already) come to them
قال تعالى: «أنَّى لهم الذكرى» أي لا ينفعهم الإيمان عند نزول العذاب «وقد جاءهم رسول مبين» بين الرسالة.
Saheeh InternationalThen they turned away from him and said, "[He was] taught [and is] a madman
Yusuf AliYet they turn away from him and say: "Tutored (by others), a man possessed
«ثم تولوْا عنه وقالوا معلم» أي يعلمه القرآن بشر «مجنون».
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, We will remove the torment for a little. Indeed, you [disbelievers] will return [to disbelief]
Yusuf AliWe shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways)
«إنا كاشفو العذاب» أي الجوع عنكم زمناً «قليلا» فكشف عنهم «إنكم عائدون» إلى كفركم فعادوا إليه.
Saheeh InternationalThe Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take retribution
Yusuf AliOne day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught: We will indeed (then) exact Retribution
اذكر «يوم نبطش البطشة الكبرى» هو يوم بدر «إنا منتقمون» منهم والبطش الأخذ بقوة.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger
Yusuf AliWe did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them an apostle most honourable
«ولقد فتنا» بلونا «قبلهم قوم فرعون» معه «وجاءهم رسول» هو موسى عليه السلام «كريم» على الله تعالى.
Saheeh International[Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allah. Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger
Yusuf AliSaying: "Restore to me the Servants of God: I am to you an apostle worthy of all trust
«أن» أي بأن «أدُّوا إليَّ» ما أدعوكم إليه من الإيمان، أي أظهروا إيمانكم لي يا «عباد الله إني لكم رسول أمين» على ما أُرسلت به.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah. Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority
Yusuf AliAnd be not arrogant as against God: for I come to you with authority manifest
«وأن لا تعلوا» تتجبروا «على الله» بترك طاعته «إني آتيكم بسلطان» برهان «مبين» بين على رسالتي فتوعَّدوه بالرجم.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me
Yusuf AliFor me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me
فقال «وإني عذت بربي وربكم أن ترجمون» بالحجارة.
Saheeh InternationalBut if you do not believe me, then leave me alone
Yusuf AliIf ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me
«وإن لم تؤمنوا لي» تصدقوني «فاعتزلون» فاتركوا أذاي فلم يتركوه.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [finally] he called to his Lord that these were a criminal people
Yusuf Ali(But they were aggressive:) then he cried to his Lord: "These are indeed a people given to sin
«فدعا ربه أن» أي بأن «هؤلاء قوم مجرمون» مشركون.
Saheeh International[Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued
Yusuf Ali(The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued
فقال تعالى: «فأسر» بقطع الهمزة ووصلها «بعبادي» بنى إسرائيل «ليلاً إنكم متبَعون» يتبعكم فرعون وقومه.
Saheeh InternationalAnd leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned
Yusuf AliAnd leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be drowned
«واترك البحر» إذا قطعته أنت وأصحابك «رهواً» ساكناً منفرجاً حتى يدخله القبط «إنهم جند مغرقون» فاطمأن بذلك فأغرقوا.
Saheeh InternationalHow much they left behind of gardens and springs
Yusuf AliHow many were the gardens and springs they left behind
«كم تركوا من جنات» بساتين «وعيون» تجري.
Saheeh InternationalAnd crops and noble sites
Yusuf AliAnd corn-fields and noble buildings
«وزروع ومقام كريم» مجلس حسن.
Saheeh InternationalAnd comfort wherein they were amused
Yusuf AliAnd wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight
«ونعمة» متعة «كانوا فيها فاكهين» ناعمين.
Saheeh InternationalThus. And We caused to inherit it another people
Yusuf AliThus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things)
«كذلك» خبر مبتدأ، أي الأمر «وأورثناها» أي أموالهم «قوماً آخرين» أي بني إسرائيل.
Saheeh InternationalAnd the heaven and earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved
Yusuf AliAnd neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again)
«فما بكت عليهم السماء والأرض» بخلاف المؤمنين يبكي عليهم بموتهم مصلاهم من الأرض ومصعد عملهم من السماء «وما كانوا منظرين» مؤخرين للتوبة.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We certainly saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment
Yusuf AliWe did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment
«ولقد نجينا بني إسرائيل من العذاب المهين» قتل الأبناء واستخدام النساء.
Saheeh InternationalFrom Pharaoh. Indeed, he was a haughty one among the transgressors
Yusuf AliInflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors
«من فرعون» قيل بدل من العذاب بتقدير مضاف، أي عذاب، وقيل حال من العذاب «إنه كان عالياً من المسرفين».
Saheeh InternationalAnd We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds
Yusuf AliAnd We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly
«ولقد اخترناهم» أي بني إسرائيل «على علم» منا بحالهم «على العالمين» أي عالمي زمانهم أي العقلاء.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial
Yusuf AliAnd granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial
«وآتيانهم من الآيات ما فيه بلاء مبين» نعمة ظاهرة من فلق البحر والمن والسلوى وغيرها.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, these [disbelievers] are saying
Yusuf AliAs to these (Quraish), they say forsooth
«إن هؤلاء» أي كفار مكة «ليقولون».
Saheeh InternationalThere is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected
Yusuf AliThere is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again
«إن هي» ما الموتة التي بعدها الحياة «إلا موتتنا الأولى» أي وهم نطف «وما نحن بمنشرين» بمبعوثين أحياء بعد الثانية.
Saheeh InternationalThen bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful
Yusuf AliThen bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true
«فأتوا بآبائنا» أحياء «إن كنتم صادقين» أنا نبعث بعد موتنا، أي نحيا.
Saheeh InternationalAre they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals
Yusuf AliWhat! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin
قال تعالى: «أهم خير أم قوم تُبَّع» هو نبي أو رجل صالح «والذين من قبلهم» من الأمم «أهلكناهم» بكفرهم، والمعنى ليسوا أقوى منهم وأهلكوا «إنهم كانوا مجرمين».
Saheeh InternationalAnd We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play
Yusuf AliWe created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport
«وما خلقنا السماوات والأرض وما بينهما لاعبين» بخلق ذلك، حال.
Saheeh InternationalWe did not create them except in truth, but most of them do not know
Yusuf AliWe created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand
«ما خلقناهما» وما بينهما «إلا بالحق» أي محقين في ذلك ليستدل به قدرتنا ووحدانيتنا وغير ذلك «ولكن أكثرهم» أي كفرا مكة «لا يعلمون».
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all
Yusuf AliVerily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them
«إن يوم الفصل» يوم القيامة يفصل الله فيه بين العباد «ميقاتهم أجمعين» للعذاب الدائم.
Saheeh InternationalThe Day when no relation will avail a relation at all, nor will they be helped
Yusuf AliThe Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive
«يوم لا يغني مولى عن مولى» بقرابة أو صداقة، أي لا يدفع عنه «شيئاً» من العذاب «ولا هم ينصرون» يمنعون منه، ويوم بدل من يوم الفصل.
Saheeh InternationalExcept those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
Yusuf AliExcept such as receive God's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful
«إلا من رحم الله» وهم المؤمنون فإنه يشفع بعضهم لبعض بإذن الله «إنه هو العزيز» الغالب في انتقامه من الكفار «الرحيم» بالمؤمنين.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the tree of zaqqum
Yusuf AliVerily the tree of Zaqqum
«إن شجرة الزقوم» هي من أخبث الشجر المر بتهامة ينبتها الله تعالى في الجحيم.
Saheeh InternationalIs food for the sinful
Yusuf AliWill be the food of the Sinful
«طعام الأثيم» أبي جهل وأصحابه ذوي الإثم الكبير.
Saheeh InternationalLike murky oil, it boils within bellies
Yusuf AliLike molten brass; it will boil in their insides
«كالمهل» أي كدردي الزيت الأسود خبر ثان «تغلي في البطون» بالفوقانية خبر ثالث وبالتحتانية حال من المهل.
Saheeh InternationalLike the boiling of scalding water
Yusuf AliLike the boiling of scalding water
«كغلي الحميم» الماء الشديد الحرارة.
Saheeh International[It will be commanded], "Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Hellfire
Yusuf AliA voice will cry: "Seize ye him and drag him into the midst of the Blazing Fire
«خذوه» يقال للزبانية: خذوا الأثيم «فاعتلوه» بكسر التاء وضمها جروه بغلظة وشدة «إلى سواء الجحيم» وسط النار.
Saheeh InternationalThen pour over his head from the torment of scalding water
Yusuf AliThen pour over his head the Penalty of Boiling Water
(ثم صبوا فوق رأسه من عذاب الحميم) أي من الحميم الذي لا يفارقه العذاب فهو أبلغ مما في آية "" يصب من فوق رؤوسهم الحميم "".
Saheeh International[It will be said], "Taste! Indeed, you are the honored, the noble
Yusuf AliTaste thou (this)! Truly wast thou mighty, full of honour
ويقال له: «ذق» أي العذاب «إنك أنت العزيز الكريم» بزعمك وقولك ما بين جبليها أعز وأكرم مني.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, this is what you used to dispute
Yusuf AliTruly this is what ye used to doubt
وقال لهم: «إن هذا» الذي ترون من العذاب «ما كنتم به تمترون» فيه تشكون.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, the righteous will be in a secure place
Yusuf AliAs to the Righteous (they will be) in a position of Security
«إن المتقين في مقام» مجلس «أمين» يؤمن فيه الخوف.
Saheeh InternationalWithin gardens and springs
Yusuf AliAmong Gardens and Springs
«في جنات» بساتين «وعيون».
Saheeh InternationalWearing [garments of] fine silk and brocade, facing each other
Yusuf AliDressed in fine silk and in rich brocade, they will face each other
«يلبسون من سندس وإستبرق» أي ما رقَّ من الديباج وما غلظ منه «متقابلين» حال، أي لا ينظر بعضهم إلى قفا بعض لدوران الأسرة بهم.
Saheeh InternationalThus. And We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes
Yusuf AliSo; and We shall join them to Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes
«كذلك» يقدر قبله الأمر «وزوجناهم» من التزويج أو قرناهم «بحور عين» بنساء بيض واسعات الأعين حسانها.
Saheeh InternationalThey will call therein for every [kind of] fruit - safe and secure
Yusuf AliThere can they call for every kind of fruit in peace and security
«يدعون» يطلبون الخدم «فيها» أي الجنة أن يأتوا «بكل فاكهة» منها «آمنين» من انقطاعها ومضرتها ومن كل مخوف حال.
Saheeh InternationalThey will not taste death therein except the first death, and He will have protected them from the punishment of Hellfire
Yusuf AliNor will they there taste Death, except the first death; and He will preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire
«لا يذوقون فيها الموت إلا الموتة الأولى» أي التي في الدنيا بعد حياتهم فيها، قال بعضهم إلا بمعنى بعد «ووقاهم عذاب الجحيم».
Saheeh InternationalAs bounty from your Lord. That is what is the great attainment
Yusuf AliAs a Bounty from thy Lord! that will be the supreme achievement
«فضلاً» مصدر بمعنى تفضلاً منصوب بتفضل مقدراً «من ربك ذلك هو الفوز العظيم».
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, We have eased the Qur'an in your tongue that they might be reminded
Yusuf AliVerily, We have made this (Qur'an) easy, in thy tongue, in order that they may give heed
«فإنما يسرناه» سهلنا القرآن «بلسانك» بلغتك لتفهمه العرب منك «لعلهم يتذكرون» يتعظون فيؤمنون لكنهم لا يؤمنون.
Saheeh InternationalSo watch, [O Muhammad]; indeed, they are watching [for your end]
Yusuf AliSo wait thou and watch; for they (too) are waiting
«فارتقب» انتظر هلاكهم «إنهم مرتقبون» هلاكك، وهذا قبل نزول الأمر بجهادهم.
