56. Al-Waaqia سُورَةُ الوَاقِعَةِ
Saheeh InternationalWhen the Occurrence occurs
Yusuf AliWhen the Event inevitable cometh to pass
«إذا وقعت الواقعة» قامت القيامة.
Saheeh InternationalThere is, at its occurrence, no denial
Yusuf AliThen will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming
«ليس لوقعتها كاذبة» نفس تكذب بأن تنفيها كما نفتها في الدنيا.
Saheeh InternationalIt will bring down [some] and raise up [others]
Yusuf Ali(Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt
«خافضة رافعة» أي هي مظهرة لخفض أقوام بدخولهم النار ولرفع آخرين بدخولهم الجنة.
Saheeh InternationalWhen the earth is shaken with convulsion
Yusuf AliWhen the earth shall be shaken to its depths
«إذا رجت الأرض رجا» حركت حركة شديدة.
Saheeh InternationalAnd the mountains are broken down, crumbling
Yusuf AliAnd the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms
«وبست الجبال بسا» فتتت.
Saheeh InternationalAnd become dust dispersing
Yusuf AliBecoming dust scattered abroad
«فكانت هباءً» غبارا «منبثا» منتشرا، وإذا الثانية بدل من الأولى.
Saheeh InternationalAnd you become [of] three kinds
Yusuf AliAnd ye shall be sorted out into three classes
«وكنتم» في القيامة «أزواجا» أصنافا «ثلاثة».
Saheeh InternationalThen the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right
Yusuf AliThen (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand
«فأصحاب الميمنة» وهم الذين يؤتون كتبهم بإيمانهم مبتدأ خبره «ما أصحاب الميمنة» تعظيم لشأنهم بدخولهم الجنة.
Saheeh InternationalAnd the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left
Yusuf AliAnd the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand
«وأصحاب المشأمة» أي الشمال بأن يؤتى كل منهم كتابه بشماله «ما أصحاب المشأمة» تحقير لشأنهم بدخولهم النار.
Saheeh InternationalAnd the forerunners, the forerunners
Yusuf AliAnd those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter)
«والسابقون» إلى الخير وهم الأنبياء مبتدأ «السابقون» تأكيد لتعظيم شأنهم.
Saheeh InternationalThose are the ones brought near [to Allah]
Yusuf AliThese will be those Nearest to God
«أولئك المقربون».
Saheeh InternationalIn the Gardens of Pleasure
Yusuf AliIn Gardens of Bliss
«في جنات النعيم».
Saheeh InternationalA [large] company of the former peoples
Yusuf AliA number of people from those of old
«ثلة من الأولين» مبتدأ، أي جماعة من الأمم الماضية.
Saheeh InternationalAnd a few of the later peoples
Yusuf AliAnd a few from those of later times
«وقليل من الآخرين» من أمة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم وهم السابقون من الأمم الماضية وهذه الأمة والخبر.
Saheeh InternationalOn thrones woven [with ornament]
Yusuf Ali(They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones)
«على سرر موضونة» منسوجة بقضبان الذهب والجواهر.
Saheeh InternationalReclining on them, facing each other
Yusuf AliReclining on them, facing each other
«متكئين عليها متقابلين» حالان من الضمير في الخبر.
Saheeh InternationalThere will circulate among them young boys made eternal
Yusuf AliRound about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness)
«يطوف عليهم» للخدمة «ولدان مخلدون» على شكل الأولاد لا يهرمون.
Saheeh InternationalWith vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring
Yusuf AliWith goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains
«بأكواب» أقداح لا عرى لها «وأباريق» لها عرى وخراطيم «وكأس» إناء شرب الخمر «من معين» أي خمر جارية من منبع لا ينقطع أبدا.
Saheeh InternationalNo headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated
Yusuf AliNo after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication
«لا يصدعون عنها ولا ينزَِفون» بفتح الزاي وكسرها من نزف الشارب وأنزف، أي لا يحصل لهم منها صداع ولا ذهاب عقل بخلاف خمر الدنيا.
Saheeh InternationalAnd fruit of what they select
Yusuf AliAnd with fruits, any that they may select
«وفاكهة مما يتخيرون».
Saheeh InternationalAnd the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire
Yusuf AliAnd the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire
«ولحم طير مما يشتهون و» لهم للاستمتاع.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes
Yusuf AliAnd (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes
«وحور» نساء شديدات سواد العيون وبياضها «عين» ضخام العيون كسرت عينه بدل ضمها لمجانسة الياء ومفرده عيناء كحمراء وفي قراءة بجر حور عين.
Saheeh InternationalThe likenesses of pearls well-protected
Yusuf AliLike unto Pearls well-guarded
«كأمثال اللؤلؤ المكنون» المصون.
Saheeh InternationalAs reward for what they used to do
Yusuf AliA Reward for the deeds of their past (life)
«جزاءً» مفعول له أو مصدر والعامل المقدر أي جعلنا لهم ما ذكر للجزاء أو جزيناهم «بما كانوا يعملون».
Saheeh InternationalThey will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin
Yusuf AliNot frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill
«لا يسمعون فيها» في الجنة «لغوا» فاحشا من الكلام «ولا تأثيما» ما يؤثم.
Saheeh InternationalOnly a saying: "Peace, peace
Yusuf AliOnly the saying, "Peace! Peace
«إلا» لكن «قيلا» قولا «سلاما» سلاما بدل من قيلا فإنهم يسمعونه.
Saheeh InternationalThe companions of the right - what are the companions of the right
Yusuf AliThe Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand
«وأصحاب اليمين ما أصحاب اليمين».
Saheeh International[They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed
Yusuf Ali(They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns
«في سدر» شجر النبق «مخضود» لا شوك فيه.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [banana] trees layered [with fruit]
Yusuf AliAmong Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another
«وطلح» شجر الموز «منضود» بالحمل من أسفله إلى أعلاه.
Saheeh InternationalAnd shade extended
Yusuf AliIn shade long-extended
«وظل ممدود» دائم.
Saheeh InternationalAnd water poured out
Yusuf AliBy water flowing constantly
«وماء مسكوب» جار دائما.
Saheeh InternationalAnd fruit, abundant [and varied]
Yusuf AliAnd fruit in abundance
«وفاكهة كثيرة».
Saheeh InternationalNeither limited [to season] nor forbidden
Yusuf AliWhose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden
«لا مقطوعة» في زمن «ولا ممنوعة» بثمن.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [upon] beds raised high
Yusuf AliAnd on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high
«وفرش مرفوعة» على السرر.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation
Yusuf AliWe have created (their Companions) of special creation
«إنا أنشأناهن إنشاءً» أي الحور العين من غير ولادة.
Saheeh InternationalAnd made them virgins
Yusuf AliAnd made them virgin - pure (and undefiled)
«فجعلناهن أبكارا» عذارى كلما أتاهن أزواجهن وجدوهن عذارى ولا وجع.
Saheeh InternationalDevoted [to their husbands] and of equal age
Yusuf AliBeloved (by nature), equal in age
«عرُْبا» بضم الراء وسكونها جمع عروب وهي المتحببة إلى زوجها عشقا له «أترابا» جمع ترب، أي مستويات في السن.
Saheeh InternationalFor the companions of the right [who are]
Yusuf AliFor the Companions of the Right Hand
«لأصحاب اليمين» صلة أنشأناهن أو جعلناهن وهم.
Saheeh InternationalA company of the former peoples
Yusuf AliA (goodly) number from those of old
«ثلة من الأولين».
Saheeh InternationalAnd a company of the later peoples
Yusuf AliAnd a (goodly) number from those of later times
«وثلة من الآخرين».
Saheeh InternationalAnd the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left
Yusuf AliThe Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand
«وأصحاب الشمال ما أصحاب الشمال».
Saheeh International[They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water
Yusuf Ali(They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water
«في سموم» ريح جارة من النار تنفذ في المسام «وحميم» ماء شديد الحرارة.
Saheeh InternationalAnd a shade of black smoke
Yusuf AliAnd in the shades of Black Smoke
«وظل من يحموم» دخان شديد السواد.
Saheeh InternationalNeither cool nor beneficial
Yusuf AliNothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please
«لا بارد» كغيره من الظلال «ولا كريم» حسن المنظر.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence
Yusuf AliFor that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury)
«إنهم كانوا قبل ذلك» في الدنيا «مترفين» منعمين لا يتعبون في الطاعة.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they used to persist in the great violation
Yusuf AliAnd persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme
«وكانوا يصرون على الحنث» الذنب «العظيم» أي الشرك.
Saheeh InternationalAnd they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected
Yusuf AliAnd they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again
«وكانوا يقولون أئذا متنا وكنا ترابا وعظاما أئنا لمبعوثون» في الهمزتين في الموضوعين التحقيق وتسهيل الثانية وإدخال ألف بينهما على الوجهين.
Saheeh InternationalAnd our forefathers [as well]
Yusuf Ali(We) and our fathers of old
«أو آباؤنا الأولون» بفتح الواو للعطف والهمزة للاستفهام وهو في ذلك وفيما قبله للاستبعاد وفي قراءة بسكون الواو عطفا بأو والمعطوف عليه محل إن واسمها.
Saheeh InternationalSay, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples
Yusuf AliSay: "Yea, those of old and those of later times
«قل إن الأولين والآخرين».
Saheeh InternationalAre to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day
Yusuf AliAll will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known
«لمجموعون إلى ميقات» لوقت «يوم معلوم» أي يوم القيامة.
Saheeh InternationalThen indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers
Yusuf AliThen will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood
«ثم إنكم أيها الضالون المكذبون».
Saheeh InternationalWill be eating from trees of zaqqum
Yusuf AliYe will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum
«لآكلون من شجر من زقوم» بيان للشجر.
Saheeh InternationalAnd filling with it your bellies
Yusuf AliThen will ye fill your insides therewith
«فمالئون منها» من الشجر «البطون».
Saheeh InternationalAnd drinking on top of it from scalding water
Yusuf AliAnd drink Boiling Water on top of it
«فشاربون عليه» أي الزقوم المأكول «من الحميم».
Saheeh InternationalAnd will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels
Yusuf AliIndeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst
«فشاربون شَُرب» بفتح الشين وضمها مصدر «الهيم» الإبل العطاش جمع هيمان للذكر وهيمى للأنثى، كعطشان وعطشى.
Saheeh InternationalThat is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense
Yusuf AliSuch will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital
«هذا نزلهم» ما أعد لهم «يوم الدين» يوم القيامة.
Saheeh InternationalWe have created you, so why do you not believe
Yusuf AliIt is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth
«نحن خلقناكم» أوجدناكم من عدم «فلولا» هلا «تصدقون» بالبعث إذ القادر على الإنشاء قادر على الإعادة.
Saheeh InternationalHave you seen that which you emit
Yusuf AliDo ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out
«أفرأيتم ما تمنون» تريقون من المني في أرحام النساء.
Saheeh InternationalIs it you who creates it, or are We the Creator
Yusuf AliIs it ye who create it, or are We the Creators
«أأنتم» بتحقيق الهمزتين وإبدال الثانية ألفا وتسهيلها وإدخال ألف بين المسهلة والأخرى وتركه في المواضع الأخرى «تخلقونه» أي المني بشرا «أم نحن الخالقون».
Saheeh InternationalWe have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone
Yusuf AliWe have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated
«نحن قدَّرنا» بالتشديد والتخفيف «بينكم الموت وما نحن بمسبوقين» بعاجزين.
Saheeh InternationalIn that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know
Yusuf Alifrom changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not
«على» عن «أن نبدل» نجعل «أمثالكم» مكانكم «وننشئكم» نخلقكم «في مالا تعلمون» من الصور كالقردة والخنازير.
Saheeh InternationalAnd you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember
Yusuf AliAnd ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises
«ولقد علمتم النّشاءَةَ الأولى» وفي قراءة بسكون الشين «فلولا تذكرون» فيه إدغام التاء الثانية في الأصل في الذال.
Saheeh InternationalAnd have you seen that [seed] which you sow
Yusuf AliSee ye the seed that ye sow in the ground
«أفرأيتم ما تحرثون» تثيرون في الأرض وتلقون البذر فيها.
Saheeh InternationalIs it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower
Yusuf AliIs it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause
«أأنتم تزرعونه» تنبتونه «أم نحن الزارعون».
Saheeh InternationalIf We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder
Yusuf AliWere it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment
«لو نشاء لجعلناه حطاما» نباتا يابسا لا حب فيه «فظلتم» أصله ظللتم بكسر اللام حذفت تخفيفا أي أقمتم نهارا «تفكهون» حذفت منه إحدى التاءين في الأصل تعجبون من ذلك وتقولون.
Saheeh International[Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt
Yusuf Ali(Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing)
«إنا لمغرمون» نفقة زرعنا.
Saheeh InternationalRather, we have been deprived
Yusuf AliIndeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)
«بل نحن محرومون» ممنوعون رزقنا.
Saheeh InternationalAnd have you seen the water that you drink
Yusuf AliSee ye the water which ye drink
«أفرأيتم الماء الذي تشربون».
Saheeh InternationalIs it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down
Yusuf AliDo ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We
«أأنتم أنزلتموه من المزن» السحاب جمع مزنة «أم نحن المنزلون».
Saheeh InternationalIf We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful
Yusuf AliWere it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks
«لو نشاء جعلناه أجاجا» ملحا لا يمكن شربه «فلولا» هلا «تشكرون».
Saheeh InternationalAnd have you seen the fire that you ignite
Yusuf AliSee ye the Fire which ye kindle
«أفرأيتم النار التي تورون» تُخرجون من الشجر الأخضر.
Saheeh InternationalIs it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer
Yusuf AliIs it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it
«أأنتم أنشأتم شجرتها» كالمرخ والعفار والكلخ «أم نحن المنشئون».
Saheeh InternationalWe have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers
Yusuf AliWe have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts
«نحن جعلناها تذكرة» لنار جهنم «ومتاعا» بُلْغَة «للمقوين» للمسافرين من أقوى القوم: أي صاروا بالقوى بالقصر والمد أي القفر وهو مفازة لا نبات فيها ولا ماء.
Saheeh InternationalSo exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great
Yusuf AliThen celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme
«فسبح» نزه «باسم» زائدة «ربك العظيم» الله.
Saheeh InternationalThen I swear by the setting of the stars
Yusuf AliFurthermore I call to witness the setting of the Stars
«فلا أقسم» لا زائدة «بمواقع النجوم» بمساقطها لغروبها.
Saheeh InternationalAnd indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great
Yusuf AliAnd that is indeed a mighty adjuration if ye but knew
«وإنه» أي القسم بها «لقسم لو تعلمون عظيم» لو كنتم من ذوي العلم لعلمتم عظم هذا القسم.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, it is a noble Qur'an
Yusuf AliThat this is indeed a qur'an Most Honourable
«إنه» أي المتلو عليكم «لقرآن كريم».
Saheeh InternationalIn a Register well-protected
Yusuf AliIn Book well-guarded
«في كتاب» مكتوب «مكنون» مصون وهو المصحف.
Saheeh InternationalNone touch it except the purified
Yusuf AliWhich none shall touch but those who are clean
«لايمسّه» خبر بمعنى النهي «إلا المطهرون» الذين طهروا أنفسهم من الأحداث.
Saheeh International[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds
Yusuf AliA Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds
«تنزيل» منزل «من رب العالمين».
Saheeh InternationalThen is it to this statement that you are indifferent
Yusuf AliIs it such a Message that ye would hold in light esteem
«أفبهذا الحديث» القرآن «أنتم مدهنون» متهاونون مكذبون.
Saheeh InternationalAnd make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]
Yusuf AliAnd have ye made it your livelihood that ye should declare it false
«وتجعلون رزقكم» من المطر، أي شكره «أنكم تكذبون» بسقيا الله حيث قلتم مطرنا بنوء كذا.
Saheeh InternationalThen why, when the soul at death reaches the throat
Yusuf AliThen why do ye not (intervene) when (the soul of the dying man) reaches the throat
«فلولا» فهلا «إذا بلغت» الروح وقت النزع «الحلقوم» هو مجرى الطعام.
Saheeh InternationalAnd you are at that time looking on
Yusuf AliAnd ye the while (sit) looking on
«وأنتم» يا حاضري الميت «حينئذ تنظرون» إليه.
Saheeh InternationalAnd Our angels are nearer to him than you, but you do not see
Yusuf AliBut We are nearer to him than ye, and yet see not
«ونحن أقرب إليه منكم» بالعلم «ولكن لا تبصرون» من البصيرة، أي لا تعلمون ذلك.
Saheeh InternationalThen why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed
Yusuf AliThen why do ye not,- If you are exempt from (future) account
«فلولا» فهلا «إن كنتم غير مدينين» مجزيين بأن تبعثوا، أي غير مبعوثين بزعمكم.
Saheeh InternationalBring it back, if you should be truthful
Yusuf AliCall back the soul, if ye are true (in the claim of independence)
«ترجعونها» تردون الروح إلى الجسد بعد بلوغ الحلقوم «إن كنتم صادقين» فيما زعمتم فلولا الثانية تأكيد للأولى وإذا ظرف لترجعون المتعلق به الشرطان والمعنى: هلا ترجعونها إن نفيتم البعث صادقين في نفيه، أي لينتفي عن محلها الموت كالبعث.
Saheeh InternationalAnd if the deceased was of those brought near to Allah
Yusuf AliThus, then, if he be of those Nearest to God
«فأما إن كان» الميت «من المقربين».
Saheeh InternationalThen [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure
Yusuf Ali(There is for him) Rest and Satisfaction, and a Garden of Delights
«فروْح» أي فله استراحة «وريحان» رزق حسن «وجنة نعيم» وهل الجواب لأما أو لإن أو لهما؟ أقوال.
Saheeh InternationalAnd if he was of the companions of the right
Yusuf AliAnd if he be of the Companions of the Right Hand
«وأما إن كان من أصحاب اليمين».
Saheeh InternationalThen [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right
Yusuf Ali(For him is the salutation), "Peace be unto thee", from the Companions of the Right Hand
«فسلام لك» أي له السلامة من العذاب «من أصحاب اليمين» من جهة أنه منهم.
Saheeh InternationalBut if he was of the deniers [who were] astray
Yusuf AliAnd if he be of those who treat (Truth) as Falsehood, who go wrong
«وأما إن كان من المكذبين الضالين».
Saheeh InternationalThen [for him is] accommodation of scalding water
Yusuf AliFor him is Entertainment with Boiling Water
(فنزل من حميم) من إضافة الموصوف إلى صفته.
Saheeh InternationalAnd burning in Hellfire
Yusuf AliAnd burning in Hell-Fire
(وتصلية جحيم) من إضافة الموصوف إلى صفته.
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, this is the true certainty
Yusuf AliVerily, this is the Very Truth and Certainly
«إن هذا لهو حق اليقين» من إضافة الموصوف إلى صفته.
Saheeh InternationalSo exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great
Yusuf AliSo celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme
«فسبح باسم ربك العظيم» تقدم.
