81. At-Takwir سُورَةُ التَّكۡوِيرِ
Yusuf AliWhen the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up
Saheeh InternationalWhen the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]
«إذا الشمس كوِّرت» لففت وذهب بنورها.
Yusuf AliWhen the stars fall, losing their lustre
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the stars fall, dispersing
«وإذا النجوم انكدرت» انقضت وتساقطت على الأرض.
Yusuf AliWhen the mountains vanish (like a mirage)
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the mountains are removed
«وإذا الجبال سيِّرت» ذهب بها عن وجه الأرض فصارت هباءً منبثا.
Yusuf AliWhen the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended
Saheeh InternationalAnd when full-term she-camels are neglected
«وإذا العشار» النوق الحوامل «عُطلت» تركت بلا راع أو بلا حلب لما دهاهم من الأمر، وإن لم يكن مال أعجب إليهم منها.
Yusuf AliWhen the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations)
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the wild beasts are gathered
«وإذا الوحوش حشرت» جمعت بعد البعث ليقتص لبعض من بعض ثم تصير ترابا.
Yusuf AliWhen the oceans boil over with a swell
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the seas are filled with flame
«وإذا البحار سجِّرت» بالتخفيف والتشديد: أوقدت فصارت نارا.
Yusuf AliWhen the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like)
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the souls are paired
«وإذا النفوس زوجت» قرنت بأجسادها.
Yusuf AliWhen the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked
«وإذا الموءودة» الجارية تدفن حية خوف العار والحاجة «سئلت» تبكيتا لقاتلها.
Yusuf AliFor what crime she was killed
Saheeh InternationalFor what sin she was killed
«بأي ذنب قتلت» وقرئ بكسر التاء حكاية لما تخاطب به وجوابها أن تقول: قتلت بلا ذنب.
Yusuf AliWhen the scrolls are laid open
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the pages are made public
«وإذا الصحف» صحف الأعمال «نشرت» بالتخفيف والتشديد فتح وبسطت.
Yusuf AliWhen the world on High is unveiled
Saheeh InternationalAnd when the sky is stripped away
«وإذا السماء كشطت» نزعت عن أماكنها كما ينزع الجلد عن الشاة.
Yusuf AliWhen the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat
Saheeh InternationalAnd when Hellfire is set ablaze
«وإذا الجحيم» النار «سعرت» بالتخفيف والتشديد أُججت.
Yusuf AliAnd when the Garden is brought near
Saheeh InternationalAnd when Paradise is brought near
«وإذا الجنة أزلفت» قربت لأهلها ليدخلوها وجواب إذا أول السورة وما عطف عليها.
Yusuf Ali(Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward
Saheeh InternationalA soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]
«علمت نفس» كل نفس وقت هذه المذكورات وهو يوم القيامة «ما أحضرت» من خير وشر.
Yusuf AliSo verily I call to witness the planets - that recede
Saheeh InternationalSo I swear by the retreating stars
«فلا أقسم» لا زائدة «بالخُنَّس».
Yusuf AliGo straight, or hide
Saheeh InternationalThose that run [their courses] and disappear
«الجوار الكنَّس» هي النجوم الخمسة: زحل والمشتري والمريخ والزهرة وعطارد، تخنس بضم النون، أي ترجع في مجراها وراءها، بينما نرى النجم في آخر البرج إذ كَّر راجعا إلى أوله، وتكنس بكسر النون: تدخل في كناسها، أي تغيب في المواضع التي تغيب فيها.
Yusuf AliAnd the Night as it dissipates
Saheeh InternationalAnd by the night as it closes in
«والليل إذا عسعس» أقبل بظلامه أو أدبر.
Yusuf AliAnd the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness
Saheeh InternationalAnd by the dawn when it breathes
«والصبح إذا تنفس» امتد حتى يصير نهارا بينا.
Yusuf AliVerily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger
Saheeh International[That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger
«إنه» أي القرآن «لقول رسول كريم» على الله تعالى وهو جبريل أضيف إليه لنزوله به.
Yusuf AliEndued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne
Saheeh International[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position]
«ذي قوة» أي شديد القوى «عند ذي العرش» أي الله تعالى «مكين» ذي مكانة متعلق به عند.
Yusuf AliWith authority there, (and) faithful to his trust
Saheeh InternationalObeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy
«مطاع ثَمَّ» تطيعه الملائكة في السماوات «أمين» على الوحي.
Yusuf AliAnd (O people!) your companion is not one possessed
Saheeh InternationalAnd your companion is not [at all] mad
«وما صاحبكم» محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم عطف على إنه إلى آخر المقسم عليه «بمجنون» كما زعمتم.
Yusuf AliAnd without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon
Saheeh InternationalAnd he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon
«ولقد رآه» رأى محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم جبريل على صورته التي خُلق عليها «بالأفق المبين» البيِّن وهو الأعلى بناحية المشرق.
Yusuf AliNeither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen
Saheeh InternationalAnd Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen
«وما هو» محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم «على الغيب» ما غاب من الوحي وخبر السماء «بظنين» أي بمتهم، وفي قراءة بالضاد، أي ببخيل فينتقص شيئا منه.
Yusuf AliNor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed
Saheeh InternationalAnd the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]
«وما هو» أي القرآن «بقول شيطان» مسترق السمع «رجيم» مرجوم.
Yusuf AliWhen whither go ye
Saheeh InternationalSo where are you going
«فأين تذهبون» فبأي طريق تسلكون في إنكاركم القرآن وإعراضكم عنه.
Yusuf AliVerily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds
Saheeh InternationalIt is not except a reminder to the worlds
«إن» ما «هو إلا ذكر» عظة «للعالمين» الإنس والجن.
Yusuf Ali(With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight
Saheeh InternationalFor whoever wills among you to take a right course
«لمن شاء منكم» بدل من العالمين بإعادة الجار «أن يستقيم» باتباع الحق.
Yusuf AliBut ye shall not will except as God wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds
Saheeh InternationalAnd you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds
«وما تشاءون» الاستقامة على حق «إلا أن يشاء الله رب العالمين» الخلائق استقامتكم عليه.
