87. Al-A'laa سُورَةُ الأَعۡلَىٰ
Saheeh InternationalExalt the name of your Lord, the Most High
Yusuf AliGlorify the name of thy Guardian-Lord Most High
«سبح اسم ربك» أي نزه ربك عما لا يليق به واسم زائد «الأعلى» صفة لربك.
Saheeh InternationalWho created and proportioned
Yusuf AliWho hath created, and further, given order and proportion
«الذي خلق فسوى» مخلوقه، جعله متناسب الأجزاء غير متفاوت.
Saheeh InternationalAnd who destined and [then] guided
Yusuf AliWho hath ordained laws. And granted guidance
«والذي قدَّر» ما شاء «فهدى» إلى ما قدره من خير وشر.
Saheeh InternationalAnd who brings out the pasture
Yusuf AliAnd Who bringeth out the (green and luscious) pasture
«والذي أخرج المرعى» أنبت العشب.
Saheeh InternationalAnd [then] makes it black stubble
Yusuf AliAnd then doth make it (but) swarthy stubble
«فجعله» بعد الخضرة «غُثاء» جافا هشيما «أحوى» أسود يابسا.
Saheeh InternationalWe will make you recite, [O Muhammad], and you will not forget
Yusuf AliBy degrees shall We teach thee to declare (the Message), so thou shalt not forget
«سنقرئك» القرآن «فلا تنسى» ما تقرؤه.
Saheeh InternationalExcept what Allah should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden
Yusuf AliExcept as God wills: For He knoweth what is manifest and what is hidden
«إلا ما شاء الله» أن تنساه بنسخ تلاوته وحكمه، وكان صلى الله عليه وسلم يجهر بالقراءة مع قراءة جبريل خوف النسيان فكأنه قيل له: لا تعجل بها إنك لا تنسى فلا تتعب نفسك بالجهر بها «إنه» تعالى «يعلم الجهر» من القول والفعل «وما يخفى» منهما.
Saheeh InternationalAnd We will ease you toward ease
Yusuf AliAnd We will make it easy for thee (to follow) the simple (Path)
«ونيسِّرك لليسرى» للشريعة السهلة وهي الإسلام.
Saheeh InternationalSo remind, if the reminder should benefit
Yusuf AliTherefore give admonition in case the admonition profits (the hearer)
«فذكر» عظ بالقرآن «إن نفعت الذكرى» من تذكرة المذكور في سيذكر، يعني وإن لم تنفع ونفعها لبعض وعدم النفع لبعض آخر.
Saheeh InternationalHe who fears [Allah] will be reminded
Yusuf AliThe admonition will be received by those who fear (God)
«سيذكر» بها «من يخشى» يخاف الله تعالى كآية " فذكر بالقرآن من يخاف وعيد ".
Saheeh InternationalBut the wretched one will avoid it
Yusuf AliBut it will be avoided by those most unfortunate ones
«ويتجنبها» أي الذكرى، أي يتركها جانبا لا يلتفت إليها «الأشقى» بمعنى الشقي أي الكافر.
Saheeh International[He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire
Yusuf AliWho will enter the Great Fire
«الذي يصلى النار الكبرى» هي نار الآخرة والصغرى نار الدنيا.
Saheeh InternationalNeither dying therein nor living
Yusuf AliIn which they will then neither die nor live
«ثم لا يموت فيها» فيستريح «ولا يحيى» حياة هنيئة.
Saheeh InternationalHe has certainly succeeded who purifies himself
Yusuf AliBut those will prosper who purify themselves
«قد أفلح» فاز «من تزكى» تطهر بالإيمان.
Saheeh InternationalAnd mentions the name of his Lord and prays
Yusuf AliAnd glorify the name of their Guardian-Lord, and (lift their hearts) in prayer
«وذكر اسم ربه» مكبرا «فصلَّى» الصلوات الخمس وذلك من أمور الآخرة وكفار مكة مُعرضون عنها.
Saheeh InternationalBut you prefer the worldly life
Yusuf AliDay (behold), ye prefer the life of this world
«بل تؤثرون» بالفوقانية والتحتانية «الحياة الدنيا» على الآخرة.
Saheeh InternationalWhile the Hereafter is better and more enduring
Yusuf AliBut the Hereafter is better and more enduring
«والآخرة» المشتملة على الجنة «خير وأبقى».
Saheeh InternationalIndeed, this is in the former scriptures
Yusuf AliAnd this is in the Books of the earliest (Revelation)
«إن هذا» إفلاحُ من تزكى وكون الآخرة خيرا «لفي الصحف الأولى» أي المنزلة قبل القرآن.
